Title: My thoughts on classes
Post by: Sultan Eren on July 12, 2012, 06:49:38 pm
Ok people i'm changing the list in the way you like:

Long Spear/Pike
-Add a long pike 345 length
-Make them sheatable

Crushtrough weapons
-Increase damage by %25
-Add thor's hammer which has 100 blunt damage

Xbow and Ranged
-Make all crossbows 1 slots
-Replace longbow with M4A1 and rusbow with MP5

Horses
-Buff health, buff bump damage, buff speed. Buff everything.

One Handers and Shielders
-Don't add shieldbash animation, and don't make its reach a bit further than a normal kick

Two Handers
-Add a armor named two hander armor which has 100 armor value

The old version (which gets -6 in ten minutes)

So everyone get nerfs, and 1 handers get only buffs? :)

Thank you for your balance.

Can you really block a sword with 3-meters long stick? Bullshit.

Two Handers/ Shielders is by far the most class that didn't receive much nerf, 2 handers is very OP against lancers like me, they always outreach my lance and dehorse me in 1 hit all the time. Cav is only OP against unaware infantry, but they don't do very well against aware infantry, especially aware 2 handers

Hell right.

The most awesome thing is, that a 2h (1h as well) can out reach me as a cav, additionally 2 handers one hit me if they jumpnhit.

By the way, dont forget glaives. They are fucking too fast regardless of their length.

Seriously, do you really play this game? Stop being childish if i want your class to be nerfed.

insert "leave britney alone.jpg"

add comment "leave c-rpg alone".

Stop with the QQ'ing and nerf suggestions please.  Give me a class you're having problems countering, and the situation, and I'll tell you how to counter it.  Now you don't even have to use your own brain, you can use mine!

Then its the wrong part of the forums, because to balance all classes, every class should be able to block, and also most weapons. You're right however.

Thanks. I'm playing this shit for almost two years.

Nope. It's both related with balance and realism.

And yet here you are suggesting many nerfs to classes.  The only reason I can think of that someone would suggest a nerf, is because they believe that class is too strong, dare I even say, "overpowered"?  Which can actually be attributed to someone not using the correct tactic, or piece of equipment to counter that class, in that situation.  If you need some help figuring out what classes and tactics counter another class, tactic, or piece of equipment, I'd be happy to help.

He is an hoplite, but he didn't mention nerf to hoplite class

I have thought a long time about what caused this amount of whine. The answer is actually quite easy:

People are not looking for balance, they are looking for advantage. If an advantage is taken from them, no matter if justified or not, they whine. Pretty understandable, actually.

So, using the principle of "don't hate the players, hate the game", it's up to me to propose a solution to this problem. The only fair way (and most efficient one, too!) is to wipe the database every time new weapon stats are released. This will ensure that no one is at a disadvantage, because everyone can find the new "OP" weapon, like everyone else.

Opinions?

That is true.  The only 100% fair way would be a database wipe, or free respec (and looms given back) every time they put new stats on an item.

Moving horse requirements fucked a lot of people over (even people without looms who were already finished retiring).  The black armor was another big one, they should have given looms back to people who had loomed black armor.

I personally would prefer if they just left the game alone for the most part when it comes to item stats, skill requirements, etc.  Or else implement changes in lump sums, and wipe the database (or give everyone free respecs) when they do it.

Focus on strategus, and on fixing things that are broken.  Or implementing new things to c-rpg.  The classes and equipment are all pretty well balanced (balance, i.e. everything has strengths and weaknesses).

Now the glaive shit is something i'd agree to.
I hate backpedalling glaive user, though they had disapear, but GK just found out they were 2 slots and use them on their lancer now... such a pain.

Make the glaive 3 slot. It's still possible to backpedall and spam with it, but at least, you won't be able to use an heavy lance or a great long axe following what you are.

Then I'm thinking it's fine as what it is. Fgs stop blaming and encounter my nerf and buff requests with an idea. Tell me why and how.

Making a fun of me, eh?

Nice try, you should put a little bit more effort into it. My suggestions aren't coming straight out of my butt, I've thought about them for some time and they are mostly based on experience.

Changing longspears/pikes into support/antihorse weapons which can be used in conjunction with a normal polearm (because of 2 str req), nerfing crossbow + greatsword hybrids, and nerfing cavalry are not exactly ideas unheard of.
