Title: Awlpike with shield

Awlpike speed nerfed, now its hard style weapon. Maybe restore ability to use a shield with it.

Hoplites don't have polestagger anymore therefore I agree with OP.

I think he's right. The awlpike is meant to be used with a sheild. And the long awlpike is meant for no sheild. Whats the point to use awlpike as main polearm over the long awlpike? Both the long awlpike and awlpike were usable with sheild originally. I dont see the reasons why the awlpike can't at least be able to.

Compare awlpike with ashwood and you'll understand why.

Anyway, awlpike glances far less than long awlpike so it's still a very good, high damaging polearm.

awlpike is a 2 handed weapon, half of the weapon is HEAVY hardened metal designed to pierce plate

I prefer using the awlpike over the long awlpike.

Might just be a personal thing but I find it's much easier to maneuver and play well with. In one on one situations or where you're outnumbered, the awlpike is usually much better than the long awlpike.

Long awlpike would be more for support while the regular awlpike is better offensive power alone/outnumbered at the cost of a slight penalty in supporting.

Awlpike being usable with a shield would be awesome short term buff for hoplites.

However, when awlpike could be used with a shield, ashwood pike was the weapon without meaning.

Instead of buffing ashwood pike they nerfed awlpike.

And then removed polestagger. And now german greatsword is so much better than anything hoplite has.  It doesn't have longer reach but thanks to fast 2H builds I'm able to outstab many hoplites.

Except im pretty sure the ashwood was not usable with a shield until the patch that took it away from thw awlpike

No human being would be able to use a real awlpike in onehand with a shield in rl you know how heavy that metal is?

You could probably do it with some massive wrist and forearm strenght, though I don't think you could stab it with the force and speed that you can achieve ingame.

That goes into realism discussion though.

Without polestun, playing hoplite is really hard. Awlpike is the only weapon damaging enough to replace effects polestun had on damage output.

Please consider this, devs.

Just give up, use the awlpike and want to be the best with it, without polestagger ... without 160° spin , without shield ... without more dmg since some updates before (there were 2 nerfs of awlpike dmg) and so .... i selled mine last but i bought it back because its my baby :D

Its not so that you cant fight anymore but against 2Hs with their lolstab ur just thrust which outrange you with an awlpike is the only thing in cRPG thats makes me GTX ... i mean ... before the last update with this range and spin shit I was the one who stabbed all with this thing, because it was made for stabbing ...
