Title: Can we talk about feign death?

Let us talk in major about one of the most likely to be "game-changing features" in CRPG (I don't know if this will be a feature or not), but hopefully it will be.

To feign a death is the action or should I say inaction (LOL) of soliciting a predator's observation and making him/her believe that his prey is dead. Counterfactual conditional historical examples may be given upon request.

Distinctly I would like to talk about the great uses of feigning death in CRPG.

as funny as it would be, an "activate ragdoll physics at will" button would hardly be of any use.

But imagine a legion of epileptic knights all flopping down in the middle of a battlefield at the same time.

or people having wiggle races down a hillside or set of stairs.

Jesus took into His confidence a young Joseph of Arimathea. Knowing the Old Testament prophecies concerning the Messiah, Jesus ordered His life in such a way as to fulfill them. For example, Jesus arranged a feigned death on the cross by being administered a drug when the vinegar was offered. Then after He passed out from the drug, Joseph took His body to one of his tombs. When the effects of the drug wore off, Jesus appeared alive and revealed himself as the Messiah.

While I'm sure that Jesus lived, I think it says a lot about how fucked his culture was at the time, morally and socially, that just by being a decent person he stood out SO much from his peers. As far as being the Messiah? Well, doesn't every Jewish woman think her child is God's gift?  :mrgreen:

how about a mode where you don't "die" right away but go into "dying mode" where like your speed and stats all decrease really fast (in like 3-10 sec) and then you collapse..

That will give you a chance to fight until the very end.... But maybe you gotta train that skill? Or stats?

Most people will just fall over and die, but if you train it you will like stumble around and get one or two swings off before you collapse..

Problem is some people turn off the number corpses on their screens to 0 so if they saw someone lying on the ground dead they would immediately know they arent in fact dead and then kill them so Im gonna say this is a bad idea

Yeah.  I mean, as cool of an idea as it sounds, it sounds more fit if this were some massive persistant world game.  Battles are just meant to be fought in these 5-10 minute time frames.  I'm not saying its a bad idea at all, it would just give the player more options, but its going to turn into me following robert namo around alternating QQV-Collapse-QQV-Collapse-QQV-Collapse*flood-nomorespam* then punching him in the head a few times.

I don't think ragdolls are synchronized, so it probably wouldn't even work properly. But the idea is great.
