Title: Retirement Changes?
Post by: problemsir on May 31, 2012, 01:57:06 am
Ok, so I have heard some rumours that retiring now won't let you keep you're build or equipent, but does let you keep your heirloomed equip. I would like to know if this is true, and if so, why the fuck would the devs do this?

Want to know how to get rid of the gold in CRPG, or decrease the value of it? Take the cap off the retirement xp bonus again. People would level faster, get more looms faster, which would drive the price of looms down, because they would be A LOT easier to get.

Except that would in no way or form remove gold from the market at all, it would just distribute it around.

Actual gold sinks are when the Gold actually disappears from the market entirely, not get distributed around, so your idea is really bad.

Which is why I also added that it would DECREASE THE VALUE OF GOLD.

BUT
gold value would still EVENTUALLY come back to the same spot as inflation would STILL happen.
I CAN TYPE IN CAPS TOO

BTW DECREASING THE VALUE OF GOLD MAKES IT INFLATE MORE AND PRICES GO UP MORE. YOU WANT TO INCREASE THE VALUE OF GOLD/ DECREASE VALUE OF LOOMS

That kind of depends on why the devs are adding the gold sinks. If they are trying to make upkeep effect players gear decision, then I agree that it will do nothing, but if they are trying to make loom points/heirloomed items cheaper, then it is kind of like a virtual gold sink.

Those who are newer and have less gold, and loomed items would care. Yes this would be a gold sink but you would lose alot of players, including me, and make this game pointless to new players. This is a horrible idea. Effective way to ruin the player base.

And thus you reveal how stupid this idea actually is. Those players who have alot of gold, probably have all the looms they need, and probably wont effect them at all. Which would only affect those players with limited looms. This is the target of this, rich players, right? This idea is fail.

How many loom points do you need to sell?

Am I the only one who can't make out what this post is actually telling me?

Is the rumor that all non-loomed items will be removed from the inventory upon retirement?

And you never kept your build when retiring anyway?

Which is why I also added that it would DECREASE THE VALUE OF GOLD.

Would only decrease the value of loom points and loom themselves, that's in no way or form a gold sink since the gold still circulates around.

The OP's idea would only affect newer players, who typically aren't the ones hoarding millions of gold (or the smarter rich players who spend that gold on heirlooms).  This wouldn't have the intended affect...it wouldn't have any affect on the people who have a lot of looms or money.

What my friend is really trying to ask is: what happens after the most recent update after you retire? Do you keep your gold, items, an heirloom point, any stats? Do you get something other than an heirloom point?

Sorry if he didn't make it clear enough, even I made fun of him for it.

wouldn't people just trade thier crap to a friend before retiring.

New trading rule:

- you can only trade 1 item to another person once a day
- you have to pay a fee of 10% of the item's price to start the trade
