Why?
They are quite useless at the moment
I dont want a damage buff or something like that I just want that they get a sideswing so they are a bit usefull.
If we compare it with the 1handed peasant weapons or 2handed  then  are those weapons pretty bad

my best score was around 7 Kills in one round with the trident. If you are polearmer and not a real peasant and a skilled player, there is nothing wrong with them. If you want real peasants who are like level 10 to be able to make many kills with them, thats just not how cRPG works  :D

It's just if you fight other skilled players they just chamber you or you bounce so often  that's why a sideswing is needed

No. They aren't made for war and have many defects, the quality of the metal isn't as good, they aren't balanced for fighting...

They are made for fighting it's a game and we can fight with those weapon that's not the real life

They are peasant weapons for a reason.

Use the military fork if you want a fork as weapon.

As Poseidon I killed quite a few with trident... It's not that bad. reach is cool and you must remember that without armour your speed is higher and then you have a higher speed bonus and therefore bigger dmg, so you won't glance. Trident is cool and only 4 upkeep

I still think it needs a sideswing....

Can you prove the opposite ?

If not, the statu quo remains :s

Give them 1 more damage, and raise their price by 2000. Done.

They are peasant weapons yes, not warrior weapons.

I will only support this if torch is included. For too long has it suffered alone trying to illuminate the darkness. No more. Support torch buffs and enlighten the battlefield with its glow!

Lol he only wants that buff because he has an elders Trident or pitchfork not sure which one of these...
Rather buff the Greatswords!

Has any of those weapons been nerfed in last 12 months. Because I've played with all of them and I must say that pitchfork is best starting weapon by far.

Maybe it's worse in duels and against shielders than Practice Longsword but it's better for everything else, a lot better.

It's basically like awplike, a bit slower, with a lot less damage (awlpike has ridiculous damage anyways). With enough PS you won't glance, and your hits will hurt.

Against shielders you can use kick or dance around them.

It can stop horses, it has paulstagger which allowed me once to kill player with 80 body armor and 85 HP. I stabbed him for full two minutes, that's true, but I've managed to synchronize those stabs and keep him stunlocked. Was pretty funny thing to see.

Practice Longsword, on the other had, have no special abilities. Just blunt damage which is low and sux against low armoured opponents.

Starting one handed weapons are crap, club and cudgel are somewhat useful but I wouldn't compare them with 2H/polearms. And I'm talking about 1h no shield, with shield both are useless because peasant shields are useless.

My uncle was a farmer and i have worked a while in agriculture and i can tell you these forks have some nasty points.

Well same goes for any other weapon in the shop, a spiked club only has 22 piercer but damn, getting hit by such a thing would hurt a bit and get you at least ONE wound. ;)

There are a few OPs
Glaive
Poleaxe
Bec de Corbin

2handers have more OPs:
All Greatswords
Sword of War
Flamberge
Highland Claymore
Katana

and the cheap 2handers make more damage

The low-tier poles are great already.

worse then the low tier from 1hand and 2hand in my opinion

Nah, the poles got range.

Try the Practice Lance on foot, it's absolute beast for its price.

it has paulstagger which allowed me once to kill player with 80 body armor and 85 HP. I stabbed him for full two minutes, that's true, but I've managed to synchronize those stabs and keep him stunlocked. Was pretty funny thing to see.

Yeah, two minutes is exaggeration but it took me 10-15 stabs to kill him. He was Wolves_Ulfsark, happened last summer. He couldn't move.

Then he sucks, that's it.

Here's the deal:

There's a 50% chance to get the extra long stagger when hitting someone (if you deal more than 15 dmg before armor calcs) but a person cannot get staggered again when already in a stagger.

Conclusion: He must've just mistimed his blocks, been playing on a mac, just didn't care and tried to spam you or something.

Haha yeah would be epic if Torch get loomed the light radius increases!
(At least with Final boss pack)

Ahm great long axe is very short every 2hander outrange them and spam
Pike and long spear in the right hands?
everything is op in the right hands  and they are so slow and unbalanced and they only can stab
Either a swiss halberd it might be fast and long but the damage isnt the best and the length can also be your death

Nah, the looks is good enough. But the Torch really needs a buff. Way too bad for it's price. Give ALL torches +10 light! :D

It's always bothered me that the trident does less poke-y damage than the pitchfork.

It's got one more point, which means one more hole in someone.

Ye true story
my Trident definetly needs a buff and if its just a sideswing :(

I know that. He didn't miss blocks, I was behind him the whole time :D

Point is, you can keep someone stunned if you do it right way (both timed stabs and footwork). Of course you'll need luck, because stagger chance is 50%, as you said.

Side swings won't make this wep bounce off people less.  Power strike, WPF, and STR do that.  It doesn't have a thing to do with the weapon.  I have killed people with a little blacksmith hammer before by speccing into 1hand and having high PS.  The problem is peasants are just wimpy and if you go against other peasants then you will see that the weapon won't bounce off.
Title: Re: Buff the peasant weapons?
Post by: Fuma Kotaro on May 05, 2012, 07:29:07 pm
I dont complain about bouncing I just think that the listed weapons are underpowered in comparision with the other peasant weapons
Title: Re: Buff the peasant weapons?

Point is, I'm talking right out of my arse.

Firstly: In order to have a chance to pull it off I'd have to hit precisely as the stagger has ended. Every time. 10-15 times. Counting ping, lags, packet loss, animation glitches, how stupidly hard it is to pull of that exact timing again and again, and comparatively how easy it is to turn around and click rmb (unless my opponent plunged his sens down playing Halo or smth).

Secondly, even if I've managed to ascend to a new, unprecedented level of nerdiness and have mastered the exact timing (while living in Kinngrimm's apartment), the chances of the stagger happening 10-15 times in a row is ridiculously low. (0.5^9 = 0.001953, 0.5^14 = 0.000061 or 0.2% and 0.006% respectively, i.e not happening)
