You skip the fun and get taken to Level 30. But you are not a proper level 30 character, because you have only 10,000 in gold, which is a fairly small amount; what you might expect to have for a character about level 15, perhaps. So you must grind anyway to earn enough gold to buy decent gear! Why not increase the STF amount a little, to say 25,000?
-
YES PLEASE!
Giving only 10000 Gold seems totally arbitrary and is insufficient to actually try some unique builds (like, arbalestrier - needs 20k gold, and leeds to useless grinding).
-
ide say just make it to 15,000. 10,000 isnt enough, and 25,000 would be rediculous.
-
Your title should say skip the fun, really does skip the fun. You have it backwards.
-
15 doesn't change anything. it should be like 40 imo.
if the sense is to avoid grind and/or try out new chars.
-
if it was 40,000 then everyone would be riding around on horses and heavy armor and a bunch of craziness.

On their STF random "lets try a build" chars? Am I the only one who don't see an issue in someone trying out a build requiring expensive equipment for a few days?
BTW: I make a new STF once a week, and for me, being high level but having to grind is even worse than the low level fun, on my current STF I spent a few hours naked with an Italian Falchion, saving up for a warspear, some cheap body armor (the white surcoat over mail), and a hounskull bascinet, grinding with a high level char is 100 times more frustrating than playing on my level 12 alt with a leather jacket, a longsword, and a black hood, heck I even enjoyed playing without yet distributing stats getting (three in total on this char with 0 stats) kills with my khyber knife on the same alt, but on my stfs by the time I'm done grinding them I just feel so damn tired of them I don't play them no more... (on my dueling twohander stfs I even only grind my slightly above medium armor and just spawn with a sickle and loot, and even doing this small grinding on a high level char leaves a sick taste in my mouth)
I say give STFs 100k... (if upkeep is the issue then remove all but 5k of their cash three hours after STF creation so we don't get upkeep escapists) I don't wanna grind when I'm trying out a new build...
And the only STF grinding didn't make me so sick of that I never used the build on an alt or my main, a level 25 alt, with gold, respec'd and STF'd it, that alt was Serpeant_Zlisch_The_Slippery, AKA, my first horse thrower.
-
The problem is that if you give someone 40 or 100k gold, now they are able to have some really expensive, high-end gear. For me to make 40k would take me quite a long time in very low-tier gear. If someone can just STF and never have to worry about money, seems a little unfair.
I think 10k gold is fine, maybe move to 15k...but for the most part, c-rpg works fine. don't need to change shit.
You guys do understand what these three words mean right?
SKIP. THE. FUN. If you need to grind to make money, you're not having fun...hence you skipping the fun. The name fits perfectly.
-

Read my suggestion to remove all but 5k after the char has been stf'd for three hours, then people still wouldn't be able to eternally support tincaness by STFin'.
-
So, if your idea was implemented, zlisch. What i could do is make a STF, about 33 strength? plated charger and decent armor and have fun for 3 hours? I kinda believe that grinding for gold is fine for a STF since you are already are at level 30, which is where most people stop leveling.
-
40 k gives you heavy medium equipment. And don't forget the upkeep. Giving people the money to have equipment that makes them go even with upkeep is not changing anything compared to normal builds. Really, that would be a sensible mark - just enough money to try the build and equipment that you would actually play on a normal char.

Yeah, three hours of careless fun, sounds horrible.
But seriously: Pro tip, 33 str build with 5 riding is impossible (and if it's possible then you'd have no ps or wm or shield, nothing but 5 riding skill)

eh, whatever, just an example. and what about the new players to crpg, they just get beat around by tin cans and crap? and it wouldnt be 3 hours of fun, it would be 3 hours of annoyance and frustration. and CRPG doesnt need anymore of that.

3 hours with no upkeep or money impact and being able to buy pretty much whatever gear you want is frustration? No, having to leech naked with an italian falchion for three hours so I can buy my armor on an alt which otherwise got a ready gear set 'n' all is frustration...
and about new players, you are aware most meleers wear medium armor knowing it's the best armor with armor-speed-(no one gives a fuck about cost) right? Tincan isn't as op as people think (I performed better on an alt same build with longsword 'n' peasant clothes than with longsword 'n' tincan suit, also, new players are just as capable of STFin' as old players, you are aware of that, right? And what's so bad about a few fun tincans here 'n' there?
-
I suggest 25,000 because that's enough to buy one key expensive item, whether it's a high end weapon or heavy armour, but wouldn't allow "crutch on gear" activity; 100k would have everyone on plated chargers wearing Churburgs, whereas 15000 isn't really enough: there are plenty of items which cost more than 15000 on their own.
-
How about just make it able so that you can only transfer money from your main over to your alt. but not the other way around.

Ya' know, I got 1mill on my main, why ain't I on a plated charger wearing a churburg? I'm on a steppe horse wearing a cav shirt.

40k isn't enough make it infinitive
-
I vote for 25k.
The God has spoken.
-
20.000 gold would be a rational option, I'd say.

horse 20k +, armor 10k, weapon 10k... upkeep??? aye for sure, everybody will take horses and heavy armor for 5 rounds lol.

well, lets take this for example:
Desert horse = 13k (Arabian 22k)
Light armor = about 5k? dont need much.
Light crossbow = 6.5
Steel bolts = 2.5
-- thats for a horse Xbow. the last time i checked, the cRPG community hated horse crossbowmen. Do we really want more?

Yes we do, I honestly feel tempted to go HX next gen and spend all my time in NA land next gen because of this post...
If anyone wanna try out HXing they have the right to do so.

aye ok... u r right a bit. at least after reading this i made myself sure what i think would be appropriate...
imo STF characters should get as much money as is the equipment cost than can be kept with average upkeep. i'm not sure how much is it atm, but i think it will be like 30-33k ?
i really like that you can try out any char you want with STF and i don't think you should be limited by money in what you can buy since beginning, otherwise it a bit looses sense. on the other hand you shouldn't get more than "the cost of regular upkeep equipment" as this feature shouldn't be here to sponsor some chars with uber gear.
if it will be a bit less or more i don't care, but 10k is bs

i agree.

Well, now that there is a transfer funds option, you can even transfer gold to your STF alts.
Problem solved, I'd say.
