Title: 0.263 or 0.270 ?
Post by: Kafein on February 22, 2012, 11:18:45 pm
What was your preferred version, balance wise ?

0.263 (actually 0.262, 0.263 was the hotfix) introduced the body/head skeleton damage modifier changes for ranged, 0.270 rolled back these changes.

Wrong, in 0.270 some values are a compromise between 0.263 and before (body, head) and some other were almost unchanged from 0.263 (limbs)

Well we can all agree both are movements in opposite directions on the same axis.

Nerf Archers

This poll is pointless. Infantry will vote on 0.263, ranged on 0.270 (or on the pre-0.263 patch if that was available).

Why do you think so ?

Ad hominem isn't a tautology. It's most usually considered a fallacy. I do think the situation of 0.263 was better for some archers like zerobot. Moreover, people can try and be objective, rather than pursuing they own agenda.

How was it better? Headshots still instagib now as they did then.

Speaking of which, nerf headshot damage, helmets are pretty worthless against range which seems weird.

Yeah, at least the heavier helmets should be able to offer a degree of protection.

Yeah, with 85 hp and 51 head armor, a headshot from a non-longbow takes at least half my health.

Agreed. I like how it is in AD 1257 mod, where hats and the like have the same armour as here, but any metal helmet is from 80+. Kettle helmet at 90 armour :D

So 0.263 is better then ?

I like .270 better. I am a shielder.

Want to produce a steady stream of damage? Aim for center. Do you want to risk a little more for kills? Aim for head.

Ranged is a little strong but it's still well within tolerance.

Good ranged do well and the team benefits from protecting them now, unlike before.

pre-0.263 was best.

but you must admit that surviving bolt to the head from close range is silly...

Eh... I headshot people at point blank a lot and they survive it (against my 6PD longbow + bodkins).

Examples: Voester (i hate u), Shovelface (dam u), Serge, etc. Ofc str oriented builds, but I'll be damned if Voester survives headshots with a kettle helmet!! Even if you headshot him, shooting his ridiculous body armour is useless! USELESS!!!!

Then your shots aren't headshot, or you just dont have enough wpf to match your PD.

I want to change my vote.  I like .270 for the archer damage.  It's perfect.  But I don't like .270 for the cav-leg nerf.  It's pointless.

Thank you for making me look like I'm retarded
No, ofc, I also test this on the duel server. It's quite sad but I guess that's the price of only 6 PD.

Sorry, wasn't the intention. But isnt ranged damage decreased by a percentage on the duel server?

Omg is that true? I never heard of that though.
But I do know I headshot people on battle. I normally play on small servers with Voester and I shoot him in the head many times...
