I love the idea of rageball but all the twats that play it are annoying me!

If people stopped randomly killing everything they see then it could be so much fun but I'm sick of getting randomly attacked while trying to play...

I made a suggestion post with a few ideas that could help rageball get some order but what the gamemode seriously needs is admins to act as referees and we need to organise some rules...

You don't understand rageball as it's meant to be played by Ozin.

Afaik, bloodbowl was the first inspiration. And bloodbowl is very far from that happy cheery not-very-manly football (soccer if you prefer) like gameplay you seem to want.

Getting randomly attack while trying to play - the other teams killers are preventing you from achieving anything.

Runners - semi-naked players that are good at manual block or have a shield to avoid losing the ball, also serve as catchers if the other team has a ball
Killers- murder everyone indiscriminately, stops other team from getting organized.
Rounders- do what needs to be done.
Catchers- fast enough to catch the other teams runners, or good with a ranged weapon.

Note that the goalie should have a shield so archers can't just pick them off or flinch lock.


Seriousness: Killing people is a very effective way of winning. Why compete with the other team when you can force them to spawn farther away. Even a single person you know is going to stomp everyone else in straight up fights ruins the balance, eh hrm I mean works the best for their team.

Bring stones to throw at people.
Edit: I think it's called Rageball since you rage at the other players stopping you from what your doing and murder everyone.

When your whole team have decided to fight enemies and there's nobody to pass the ball to that's a problem. It's also not good when the person you are passing to sees an enemy and runs away from the ball to try and get a kill. Archers? Don't bother passing to them, they won't even see the ball...

Killing is a valid tactic in RB, and should not be a reason to poll kick/ban.

Unless the server has rules (i.e. HRE), there aren't any needed (except for common sense (teamattack) or RAGE as often as possible)...

allowing people to go out of bounds with the ball? WTF

enemies respawning in YOUR zone after you've killed them on defense? are you serious? what kind of stupid design is that

no respawn timer of any sort (at least that i can tell from the 5 minutes I gave the halfbaked game mode)

The point is to make killing valid, but not overwhelming either. Increasing respawn timers results in an increase in the incentives to kill

RAGEBALL is full of MURDER.  Get over it.

I vote to not increase spawn timers necessarily, but make it so that people who die spawn on the sidelines...so they are taken out of play a little longer and have to get into position.

You shouldn't think about balance based on what makes the most sense (compared to real life sports), but what is most balanced for this sport game, think outside real world rulesets and limitations.

There is a fine balance line between killing being tactically important and useful, but better killing not being 100% a guarantee of victory. If you added more respawn time, or sent dead players to sidelines, it would make killing a lot more important than ball moving since a dead player is removed from play longer, making it much easier to move ball. If respawn timer is lowered, or dead players get a more favourable respawn, then ball maneuvering skill becomes more important.

Ideally a team with better passing and ball moving abilities should be equally competitive with a team that's better at killing the final result determined by onfield clutch actions, like all sports. Both would have strengths and weaknesses. All balance tinkering should be analysed with this ideal in mind, and if currently one strategy is stronger than the other (tho there should probably always be some bias preference towards ball movement, since that's the signature gamemode of the zone that distinguishes it from say Battle mode which is pure killing).

i raged today when i got like 10 times in row message teams not fair to justify multi,and my team had less players. I almoust destroyed my table.
I guess chadz is trolling me.
I hate also when my teammates are fighting like they play deathmach,while enemies scoring at our goal easily. That DM stuff should be bannable.

...and that's another thing: players who keep the ball too long and inevitably get chopped in the back, losing possession to the enemy team.

Ive played on kharn with an unbreakable shield with only throwing weapons.  No matter what game I join some idiot will stand in front of me hitting my shield for 10 minutes straight wasting both of our time until the round is over. Ive never actually gotten to play this character for a round.

I also have played on my high runspeed archer and often someone will spend the entire ball game just chasing me around never catching me.

IMAO, admins should kick when people spend an entire round not helping their team.

Outside of that, I dont see any reason for rageball rule changes.
