If a naked man armed only with a sword and maybe a shield came charging at you, you would have no idea how to react. If an army of naked men with swords charged you, you would run and/or cower in fear. Fear is their armor.

Those looks like celts more than barbarians, celts had an habit of fighting naked because they don't give a fuck. they're naked and fuck you up while slapping their dicks on your face.

Roman armies trembled in fear most of the times when they saw barbarians. Well, not really =).

They were called  the gaestatae and they fought naked while hopped up on some next drugs that made them insane and bloodthirsty. They were like chocolate chip cookie soldiers on meth except with swords and naked.

We need some combat drugs in cRPG. They should be consumables and start to work after a short while, boosting your agi and str but once wearing off, decreasing them. Also, while they are active, they should narrow your field of vision and distort the sound you hear.

The Viking Berserkers were known to have consumed special mushrooms found in Yggdra forest before battles that apparently would "slow" time for them, remove pain, and give them a rage so powerful they could smash their enemies into oblivion.

There is actually many stories about them in Nordic lore.

For example the lone Berserker who defended a village from approximately 40 enemies on the villages only entrance which was a bridge. Although the Berserker died at the end of the battle (His arm was lopped off near the end of the battle but continued to cut enemies down despite the minor flesh wound) with his final words being "now the village is safe".

This needs to have a film adaptation, now.

Consumable enhancements would be awesome. I could see Heroin_ATS abusing them quite badly :P

The only down side is that these consumable would be fairly unrealistic.

For those who have indulged in such things as nordic battleshrooms you will know that the effects can last many hours and would be unrealistic if they only worked for 30 seconds.

^^ I agree with the film adaptation.

Naked without weapons is banable, but as long as you have a weapon you will not get banned.

pretty much EVERYONE was a thrower in real life. People all carried a few javelins (or at least something to throw at the enemy) with them into battle. Why the hell wouldn't you? That could be a broken enemy shield, an injured or killed enemy. One less dude to fight and maybe even a broken phalanx.

I can't remember anything about infantry throwing anything except arrows and bolts at each other from my history classes. Can you specify when and where was this so common?
