Sad to say but everyone I know who has partaken in the beta for The Old Republic says it's pretty shit and doesn't come close to the awesomeness of the Singleplayer games. I can imagine that being true seeing as it seems no one can make a decent MMORPG nowadays.

All I can tell you is, it's not sh*t, but the grandest MMO of all times.
2 things. 78 Junk mail wtf.Oh no, identity theft alert! I knew posting personal images online is a grave mistake!
And 2nd CITY OF RIVERSIDE!! ZOMG YOUSSA CALI!?
From what I've read and watched, SW:ToR did not impress me. Mind you I have not tested the game. I'm also a semifan of Star Wars, atleast the games connected to it (Jedi Outcast, Jedi Academy were brilliant).Aye, I've argued with countless players with the same critique over TOR on its own forums, but here I shall break part of my NDA to shed some light (Hopefully) upon what TOR brings us.
Anyway, SW:ToR might have a storyline and a few funky features, but in it's core it's still the same old same old select target spam hotkey combat, with raiding/gearing up your char as endgame and meaningless PvP... I have played countless MMOs like this... countless. It just seems way too generic to me, SW:ToR doesn't actually bring anything new to the table.
It might be OK if you're looking for a WoW-type generic game with a sci-fi Star Wars setting, but other than that... you're better off waiting for something else.
I'm much more excited about TERA (even though it's a bit too azn for my taste) or even GW2.

If you have played Mass Effect or Baldur's Gate, you'll eventually find out that the same rich storyline and companions are going to be inside TOR, and does it not bring anything new to the table?
My answer is:
Understand that the battle and system are, indeed, somewhat similar to WoW, but what interests me and many other BioWare fans are not the battle system or end game operations or whatever. It is the compelling storytelling and companionship and choices that are rather not a bonus to the game, but what defines the game itself.
TOR offers 8 classes, and stories often left my eyes wide open in awe as I could have never expected what my choices would leave me to. (Damn you, beta testing! It's such a irresistible spoiler!)
Ex: Imperial Agents change their voices whenever under cover and progressing through the story, your Jedi Knight can fall in love and become a dark Jedi, and so on..
As you stated: "SW:ToR might have a storyline and a few funky features, but in it's core it's still the same old same old select target spam hotkey combat, with raiding/gearing up your char as endgame and meaningless PvP..."
I disagree, as I perceive it the other way around, TOR offered us countless features that other MMOs do not have, and the combat system or gearing up your character for endgame is not the main focus of this game.
Yet it depends from person to person, since you have mentioned Jedi Outcast/Academy inside a M&B mod forum, I can only guess you value player skills more than player-character skills, which is fine with me.
I value storytelling and RP that often left me a warm-fuzzy feel inside my stomach over any gameplay system.
Yes, I admit I value unique gameplay, combat system, meaningful PvP and mostly sandboxness much more than the story. In those departments SW:ToR does not seem to be very creative. I enjoyed Baldur's Gate (Icewind Dale, Planescape: Torment) and Mass Effect games A LOT, but nowadays I'm seeking something that will keep me hooked even when the story gets drained out.Normally it takes one or two pages on TOR Forums before someone brings up that the story isn't endless and what difference does it make when it comes to the end :P.
Since you said that gearing up is not the point of the game, I will ask you this: What will players who focus on only one character do when that char runs out of story? We all know the story is not endless. I doubt everyone will want to RP. In the end it will end up as just another gear grinder.
An MMO needs something to keep players wanting to play their character, and a good story is not enough for that.
But that is just my assumption.

But, still, you hit it hard, and I cannot give you any definitive answers yet because of the new beta testing phase that just started and wiped our progress anew.
Never even had the chance to reach end-game for the past few weeks since I had so many alts and alignments, and I have only spent enough time for a casual gamer.
Back to the good ol' saying: Keep speculating, and wait 'til 12/20/11 before any judgments are made 8-)
One can only wait and hope, indeed.
I'm stressing whether I should break my NDA further or not...
About the Guild Bases...
Nah.
Oh no, identity theft alert! I knew posting personal images online is a grave mistake!
Lol, I am, indeed, located in California, but moved from Riverside to San Diego two years ago.

All I can tell you is, it's not sh*t, but the grandest MMO of all times.
It's just another 'modern' MMORPG, all the same crappy combat, the last one that was the "Grandest MMORPG" of all times ( before EA ruined it ) was Ultima Online and that had only a back story and no actual story you played through, and that was a decade ago, but it had the best PvP fights I've ever experienced in an MMORPG.I will always welcome a good, healthy discussion, but your dead-end thinking allowed me naught and gave me space none.
When I play an MMORPG I couldn't give a shit about the story tbh and neither do alot of people I know, if I wanted to play a story based game I'd play a singleplayer one, playing online with people would tell me that the games biggest features are meant to be multiplayer ones, i.e PvP, getting better gear to fight with etc. If that fails then I'd rather read a book for a story than force myself to grind through a run of the mill modern day MMORPG just to hear a story.
Yes my opinion is probably biased, but there are many people who feel the same as I do about all of these MMORPGs released nowadays, they're all the same, sugar coated turds wrapped in different coloured ribbons and sadly it seems nothing about TOR makes it any different than the rest. This is probably just a game for the big big star wars fans as my friend put it, most other people are going to get bored of it or just wont play it at all after trying it out due to the crappy combat.
Do not worry, you do not sound like a fanboy and it is a pleasure replying to your posts. I just expressed my concerns of the game being generic. Does not mean I gave up on it. When I get to test it (some friends already preordered, I will get access sooner or later) and if I deem it worthy, they can have all my euros. The pleasure is all mine, and the concerns are justified as I have had them, as well, in the past.

I'll not waste my time responding you in full, for nothing is certain until the release date. Come back and insult the game and its fans after it is out, please.
Not insulting the game or the star wars story fan, just stating my opinion on everything I have learned about the game, just like you, sorry it wasn't what you wanted to see. :lol:Oh, trust me, over these four years I've seen the exact same words and lines written on TOR Forum repeatedly only there to bash and bring chaos among the Star Wars fans. In the end, they always justify their words with them merely being an opinion.

But, of course, I should realize that this is the internet and people like you are bound to exist.
Have your final words and let this foolishness end!
Post the release date of your desired games, btw.
Yes, it was an opinion, just like what you think about the game is an opinion.
Skyrim - November 11, 2011
Stronghold 3 - Oct 25, 2011
Sword of the Stars II - Oct 28, 2011
Was looking forward to Battlefield 3 but for some reason I've just lost interest, played the open beta for an hour and felt I had more fun playing Bad Company 2, though it could just be the crappy Metro map I was forced to play, or that team mates with flash lights are annoying as fuck.
I'm a big Diablo 1 & 2 fan but I've also lost interest in Diablo 3, simply because Blizzard has made the game look like a kids cartoon and added retarded auction house for real money among other retarded features. Will still probably get it but not really excited for it anymore.
Because all the Caspian Border servers were passworded and I wasn't really up for searching the interwebz for passwords.
Dungeon Keeper 3 - Never
Caspian was open the last weekend.
Lol? Caspian Border was available for EVERYONE on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and early monday last week. Without password. Was tons of servers with only Caspian Border on it. And TBH i barely lagged at all which were a common problem at the beginning of beta with CBorder.
Yes but the only way I would have known that is if I played the beta alot or someone had told me, but I only played it for an hour for the reasons stated and no one had told me about the caspian border weekend.
Not that I am bothered anyway, it's a beta, but I'm just not that interested in getting the game on release date anymore, my taste in games changes at different times and at the moment I just don't have much interest in FPS's, plus there's multiple games I look forward to playing more than BF3, around the same time BF3 is released.
Probably just get it at the end of the year, which suits me better anyway because it's when I will be upgrading and will be able to run it on even higher settings than now.
It means Vibe betrayed you and did NOT tell his fellow Fallen comrade anythang!!!!11
Also get BF3 before Skyrim.
Skyrim will probably devour 1000 hours of your life. Which means it's better to get short campaign cames, non RPGs, MMOs like FPS, MP games and then get Skyrim and all other RPGs at summer! Or something lol.
LolI guess I'll need a new pc first. But I'm not one of those who needs to get the game on the release date anyway. I'll probably wait some weeks or months...
But no, I am a huge fan of Elder Scrolls games, played them since I was a kid, I will be playing that on release day regardless of what other games are being released. But I'm not the kind of person that will play just one game, I might play alot of Skyrim, but I will without a doubt play other games aswell.
Lol
