And now for something completely different:
We are currently considering a 4th loom level that you can get by retiring at level 33.
What's to be said about this because it's been bugging me for weeks now and been wanting to discuss for awhile.
-
You could make 8 ((!) Only the most dedicated people could do that) heirlooms instead of one "+4" and I personally would want it to never be implemented because it would leave more room for grinders to increase the gap between players.
-
lol what's lvl 33? like 40 million xp?
-
ridiculus thing about it is that peole would actualy do it...

There would be no gap.
By the time you "retire" at level 33 to get that special point, you could have retired 4 times and earned a MW plus change which would cause a much higher impact. Under the old XP system you could abuse it, but with the new cap at 1450 xp per base tick, no chance in hell anyone could do this enough to make any appeciable impact.
A guy using a level 4 weapon against a guy using a level 3 weapon, level 3 armour, and level 1 gloves? Pretty clear who has the advantage there assuming same skill levels...

The difference is that only the people which have majority of their stuff at +3 or heavily loomed would even consider this, thus giving them the "room" for more superiority via items.
Noone sane, without 1/2stuff massively loomed would even consider that.
Oh and the guys that would go for the +4 play about x5 the amount that people who wouldn't, so you cannot compare equal time invested.
EDIT: Case in point - Leshma.

chadz is a trolling master!

This was posted on a topic about crpg getting boring so chads decided to spice up the posters life I guess XD

My whole setup is triple loomed and I'm going towards lvl 33 (still lvl 31 but in few weeks I'll get there). I would seriously think about retiring to get that 4th modifier.
-
agree nice idea it will make me want to to that...
and think about that they will be some like fave weapons of that kind in first 3 months... epick idea
-
And then some nutjob sells one for 3 million...
And another nutjob buys it
-
And I will run around as a peasant, wait for you to die and pick it up and laugh.
-
wooow... im gonna instant retire my lvl 34 for this *.* how would be called? brilliant? amazing?
-
im missing 2.7 millions to hit 33 and i would gladly retire for a 4th level of loom , it take forever to get to that point
-
Of course you're gonna retire, poor spami needs upgrade :P

for shizzle my nizzle!
i would be tempted by my broad 1h axe tho mw has 38 cut already ,
poor scimi has 34 :(
-
actually forth lvl sword would be heavy masterwork sword while 4th lvl hammer would be tempered mighty hammer. not sure about armor though :p
-
This would be interesting but would only further separate the grinders/no-lifers/long time players from newbies or casual players.
-
I would retire at lvl 33 to get +4 arbalest...
-
this would make chadz easier, because instead of 4 loom points on lvl 31 there would be 1 on 33, so less loomed equipment...
and it would be cool if the 4th lvl u can rename it as u like..
-
i really would not want this to be implemented man,its hard enough on the grind as it is but to make it so u HAVE TO DO THIS to be on the same playing field would suck.just getting me mw glaive and then getting trumped by some veteran who has mw everything he loves and is just running around at 33 decides to retire for this -__-
-
its to far to go to 35, and im bored atm.. i want sth to make me retire :) i miss that feeling
-
I wouldnt mind this being implemented, 4th loom name could be "legendary" ;D. Bringing a fourth loompoint to my spear would be pretty awesome.

New players will never catch older players unless you stop the progression of older players, at which point they lose interest and leave, and so I guess you can achieve balance through population loss. This is a much better solution. The higher players still progress, but at a much much slower rate compared to newer players. Newer players never catch up 100%, but they can quickly get to 90% of strength and spend the rest of their cRPG career trying to get the remaining 10%.

Sorry, but no. I don't want +4 looms at all, will just make it even shittier to be new at this game. With the current system, even high-gen players can benefit with each new heirloom by getting more equipment to choose from.

If casual players want less separation maybe they should play more. Also new players CAN make a character at gen 1 that CAN compete with the 'no lifers'. I myself have NO loomed weapons at all and yet I manage. They have a mode people can play for those who want no separation and the same starting point every time. It's called native multiplayer.

I do not agree, I play on cRPG because I can customize my build.

This will not devide the old from the new as much as people think. Players will not have all of their equipment at +4 within a week of this being implemented. Even if someone could afford to pay for multiple +4s, there just aren't enough people at that level to do it. It will take a long time for +4 equipment to really impact gameplay.
Personally, I retire as soon as I hit 31, and that's not changing anytime soon.
-
this would be cool as long as not everyone is defaulting all their shit to all their friends...
