Pre-Jan throwing is back!
Everyone, get your STF characters and load that shit up with throwing shit! It's all laser accurate once more.
Help your local archer squadrons by flinging additional shit! Bring the horizontal hailstorms back to cRPG
Shit, I know if I had the patience for it, I'd be flinging poo like a butt, too.
Whooooo

That is the story of cRPG, unless you're 2h don't expect actual nerfs to stay more then 1 day!
-
Added poll for accurate measurement of opinions

Does that mean I won't be able to take on 8 throwing axe in my plate armor anymore?
 :(

So how many solid projectile hits should a horse be able to take?
-

No it's not.
-
So how many solid projectile hits should a horse be able to take?
They should bounce off armored horses like Pakistani pebbles off Israeli tanks.
Horses should have the same armor penetration models as Tank simulators, if you don't hit it at the correct angle, it just bounces off. That would own so hard, deflects off your champ plated charger and kills the guy's teammate.
-

At least a little more then a rouncey would be nice, but horses HP are too low and all projectiles seemingly completely ignore armor and get massive speed bonuses against cav and just lay them out with ease, nerf pierce, nerf throwing, nerf bows, or buff cav hp, thanks in advance
-
ps: how many posts before some moderator put the topic to game balance forum?

If we are talking a jarid/bodkin (armour piercing) shot to the head of a horse that's coming towards the thrower (so extra relative speed), a heavy horse having a chance to surviving that headshot is already very strong. It also definitely takes 3-4 jarid side shots to drop a heavy armoured horse that's circling vs 2 for a rouncey. I think a horse being able to survive more than 4 jarid hits would be fairly OP.

You talk about a realistic armour system and then mention a thrown weapon or arrow ricocheting off of armour and killing someone else like it's a bullet, you kind of ruined a your idea with the last part, lol. But that aside, I doubt the engine is capable of that kind of complex armour system.

Big target, sucks to be Cav.

Such fantasy. I don't think you could armor a horse sufficiently against xbows and spears and still have it move. Cavalry didn't operate in actual combat like it does in Crpg. It was use in mass, as a huge battering ram, not in singletons that could be subject to concentrated ranged fire against it's flank.

I was a thrower last gen using heavy axes and it was comical with the amount of axes I've put into people before they've gone down, or didn't and trudged through the crowd to get me.
-
I was there in the age of throwing, huscarls and barmace surpremacy....
Today is nothing like that hellish hailstorm.

i miss those days : /

I know nothing of these times of old.
What I do know is that it sometimes takes one javelin to kill my lancer....
I'm gonna go make a throwing alt...
-
Speed bonus is a bitch, ain't it? :p

That's great, too bad jarids regularly one shot or nearly one shot champion cataphracts now, and horn bows 1 shot rounceys with ease
-
I am now wondering if said Jarid was from a heavy PT thrower who headshot the horse who was also running straight towards it...
-

That's a problem with axes being considered slashing damage...
I use jarids and they have a very nice punch even to heavy plate users.
-
This would probably be a bad (bad as in great amount of tears produced by my foes) time to play my thrower alt with 13 powerthrow.
-
-throwing kills about 2% on both siege and battle
-2h kills about 26% on battle and 41% on siege
-100% of 2handers whine 100% of the time
-
With the new restriction of 13 wpf per PT needed... yeah, probably a bad time indeed. :/
I've always used him with the 'low proficiency' message. I don't try medium or long range throws though unless I'm using war darts since they have a good amount of ammo.

Then you are losing powerthrow.

I know...but it still hurts just a 'bit' hah. Pretty much any cav in the server quickly learn to stay away from me after a few rounds of throwing lances/spears in them/their horses.
-
i built up my thrower after the mega nerf all the way to lvl 28 throwing stones! then i respeced and lvld then respeced and lvld now im called a STF NOOB everytime i play it

What?
It renamed your character?

I have no problems with throwers with my Champ Destrier, the only throwers I avoid are those with good aim or throwing lances. Dont charge them at top speed head on and your horse wont get wrecked
-
Warning to cavalry from experience on both sides: Don't charge straight at the thrower. He will kill you or the horse.
-
Teehee, the age of Kesh_RageThrower might be returning...
Wait, how much wpf do we need per pt now? 14 (not including armor) right?
-
I dunno.. I haven't really seen a thrower that's been any sort of threat yet. I could see the potential, but it'll take time for throwers to revive their population.

Throwing is shit inaccurate still but satisfying when you kill a cav that's going at full speed :D
-

So that massive speed bonus is totally AWESOME for the cav player as he one hits his way across the battlefield, but holy shit nerf that speed bonus if it is the other way!
-
Trick is to STAND STILL (For accuracy) wait until LAST SECOND with throwing that Jarid in the horse NOSE.
If you hit too low, the lancer get's you, and you might die or survive, too high he dies or gets you.
It's tricky but very satisfying ;)
