I wish there was an option to do a FULL Name Change like to go from Bob the Barbarian all the way to Sam the Swaggler or something.
Hell, if there was an option, most people wouldn't have a problem paying 5k for it--I know I wouldn't and especially since my Ex still actively plays this game under the name "Tankingschick" it's kind of annoying to see that when she really wants to change her name quicker than the whole Retirement process allows.
Anyone else feel the same?
-
the opposite, they should have never put name changes in. they completely did a 180 on their policy.
pick better names and then you wont have to change them
-
ye dont go for stuff likee mjolnir the berserker or something.
if something like sarranid catches ur attention now its stupid.
just always go for an shoort name like digglez, darian.
i made that mistake 2 times 2 already and had to wait for retirement.
i was the axemaster with an pike.
and the pikemaster with an sword.
-
i think paying more gold should allow full name change :*
-
I'd definitely like to be able to change my name fully. Not sure why we should pay for it, but whatever.
-
How is it fair that you can do a full name change if you retire but can't do it without retiring?
Just make it cost 100.000 gold instead and let people do it at any time so players at higher levels (32+) can change their names as well.
Either that or remove the option completely.

Fair?
Retiring or not retiring isn't some sort of setting about a person that can't be changed. You do know this is a game, right? Retire or don't retire, its a choice, but don't say that the people who choose differently are being given unfair benefits. You made your choice knowing full well what the deal was. (and your choice was to retire, a lot)
-
I like the way it is now. Having a static 'base name' helps establish the community. It's fun to know who you are fighting just by the equipment they are using, knowing who to 'avoid' and who is fresh meat. Then every now and then someone you expect will wear a set gear changes it up and catches you off guard for a round or two :D
It's fun to have an identity.
If more people could change their identities quickly it creates an opportunity for trolls or people who have earned poor reputations to hide behind a new character.
Besides, if you want a new name so badly just make an alt.

I agree with this.

What big of a difference does a retirement make compared to not retiring?
You keep the gold, the items, the generation xp bonus etc. Why is there a need of an option to make a full name change?
By the way I don't care as much as you seem to think. I'm just giving my opinion so don't respond to me like I'm whining. I'm just curious why you feel there is a need for this at all.

I like how my own personal vent spurred into a good conversation. I just wish there was an option, like I said before, for people to pay the price for a name change. Hell, I'd honestly sacrifice 20% xp if I could change my name right now, as would my ex girlfriend seeing as she's now stuck with the name Tankingschick and actively plays M&B ...... yeah.
I agree with growing the community and names sticking to players, but when your game name for every other game involves a base word of "Tank" and you find out that a crap-ton of people have the word "Tank" somewhere in their name, you realize you might wanna change your name. Just food for thought, wish it was there, it used to sometimes allow you to change your name quite a bit but now it seems it won't budge at all.

Look at it this way. When you are level 1 gen 1, you are a new adventurer, exploring the world, fighting the battles, getting the experience of a fighter. When you are old, got grey hair, and feel that you can reward yourself by retiring from the battlefield, you put retirement.
As you have used a weapon in huge fights, and this weapon have gotten a reputation, you heirloom it to your son/daughter who wants to start selling his/her sword to the great lords out there. As this weapon got this reputation, and you have flickered on it, it is a better gear than normal gears of that type. Thats what a heirloom is.
Your char is now the son/daughter of the char you played before retirement, _it is not the same person_. This is why you can change the name, and this is why the character evolves with different skills than his/her mom/dad.
Roleplay!

I have brotherhood and then my name, i like to change it to KOJ_then my name, but i must wait to i retiere, but then i just call me Maddane, then i change my name, right after that i took KOJ_Maddane, and thats my name today

When you retire, there is a one hour window to do a complete name change.
Use it.

We already know this. *Facepalms* It was mentioned a lot, but I'm talking about Changing name -without- retirement. It would be a nice feature. I see all the RP aspects and individuality and blah blah blah whatever but it would be nice to change names. Some people starting out become Frank412805 and realize that Frank412805 doesn't look as cool as HankDaMoFoTank but they have to invest a lot of hours into getting their name changed--when it should be an option. Durno, my opinion.
-
A full name change once per gen would be nice, I cba to waste hours on alts just to change their names.

How many people actually know this is possible? No one ever tells the average player shit

Dude, how weird is it to see your exgirlfriend in cyberspace?
What do you say?
Can you declare rape?
I've never experienced. One time an ex was on Facebook but I was drunk told her she had great tits. She deleted but I readded her because I was the one in control of that relationship. I bet you'd love to hear about that.

This. cRPG is unique because the community is very small and we know each other.

What? What do you mean "you were in control?" It takes mutual confirmation on FB to add friends/make relationship statuses....
