been about a year since I played archer properly and mechanics changed much and nowhere is any solid info I can see. So I did a bit of rough research using a "skip the fun" char for myself, but thought you might be interested. they layout is very rough but should be comprehend-able:
visitors can't see pics , please register or login
so this new "you do not have enough wpf" marked by "pen/penalty" cant see any effect in reticle size, unsure what it actually does, anyone?
powerdraw does not seem to have any effect on accuracy anymore.
plus I made a new sig :D

long bow + wpf = bow speed increase
longbow is terribly slow bellow 150 wpf

You edited this picture proffesionally :D

Nice.Good job :D

Interesting!
The shortbow reticule looks pretty much the same at 100 wpf as the horn bow reticule at 150 wpf. Has anyone tried a 117~ wpf shortbow strength build? (Is PD above 10 beneficial?)
Example:
Level 30 (4 420 577 xp)
Strength: 39
Agility: 3
Hit points: 78
Skills to attributes: 14
Ironflesh: 2
Power Strike: 0
Shield: 0
Athletics: 1
Riding: 0
Horse Archery: 0
Power Draw: 13
Power Throw: 0
Weapon Master: 1
One Handed: 1
Two Handed: 1
Polearm: 1
Archery: 117
Crossbow: 1
Throwing: 1

I've heard that bows don't benefit from PD some 3 or 4 points above their requirement, or something like that.

Anything past 4PD of the requirement is literally useless.

i know about this but what about pd under the requirement?
for example get a longbow used with 8pd, 8*pd-bonus or only 2*pd-bonus?
-
8 PD bonus, of course. But a long bow won't benefit from above 10 PD, then. Or so i think.
-
banok, here's the reason why the penalty doesn't show in the reticule.
when you get the penalty message it reduce your PD skill to the level where your wpf is enough.
example: i got PD 4 but only 50 wpf in archery (4x14 = 56), that's mean only my PD 3 affect the damage I deal.

Confirmed. At least if the message "your proficiency in bows is too low" is the application of said rule.
Did a Skip The Fun-character and got that message with 10 PD - 138 WPF.

interesting if true, so its not an accuracy penalty, just a damage one.

In my experience, every single point of archery wpf above 160 adds significantly more arrow speed, draw speed and damage, then a wpf point below 160 would do. But that might just be me.

I was using longbow for just one gen but I can confirm this.
Had 163 wpf, going from 152 to 163 was a HUGE buff, especially when it comes to the most important thing about longbow - draw speed.
Would like hear opinion of an archer who's lvl 33 and dedicated (all wpf in achery, 8 wm).
-
I know with a Rus bow that going from 6 to 7 WM sure made a massive difference for every build that I did.
-
Rus bow is fast, added wpf helps long bow a lot more because it has super slow draw speed.

8WM is possible with lvl 30.
My last archer build was 18/24 with 6PD, 8WM and 172 wpf in archery.
I used a MW Longbow or MW Rusbow and it was very accurate and fast (but xbowing is way more accurate).
Im actually on gen 15 and the next build will be my final archer build.
Im going for 10PD, because it hurts like hell
-
ok so I'm testing out archer builds with my STF and I wanted to know what is better : 18-24 or 24-15 ? So "6PD with 172WPF" or "8PD and 145 or so WPF". I tried the 8PD with 5 WeapMaster 140 WPF in archery and I honestly was "meh" about it. Ok it would land a decent punch with a MW Rus but man it was hard to land a hit at long range and it would take forever to shoot with the longbow. My shots would miss by an inch the face of my target whenver I tried to headshot a turtle or tincan.
