the HBS sword does 23.4 cut swing damge when used in 1handed mode and is a lot slower aswell, i think they need a buff, not 35% of the damage, but more something like 15%, so that it is really useable.

I whole-heartedly concur. I'd like to see 2h weapons in 1h mode be just slightly sub-par to 1h weapons of the same category, instead of mostly useless, as they are now.
Or, even be pretty much equivalent, but they would have the disadvantage of taking two slots (longsword and bastard swords anyway).
Something like this for the HBS
2h mode
98 speed
105 length
23 pierce
36 cut
1h mode
94 speed
105 length
19 pierce
32 cut
This would make it basically a very slightly worse arabian cavalry sword that takes two slots instead of one. Useful, but less effective, due to the fact that it is also an excellent 2h weapon.

They should entirely remove the *use a shield to switch stance* and use the X button, like they did for the lange messer and the fighting axe, would allow for much more varied stats between items, rather than a 15% (example) reduction.

i want to be 1handed cav with 2handed weapon on foot, but not possible without making giant losses(atleast when you want to ride a warhorse)

The penatlies don't stack. A 1h/2h with a shield on horse is as good as a 1h/2h without a shield on horse. Same with polearms.
Which brings me too... DO NOT buff 2handers in 1h mode before you buff hoplite! Both of them need a buff but the hoplite is in WAY more need of one. They have the same penalties but at least the 2handers still can attack in 3 or 4 directions.

that's why it should be as good as 1handers like it, but good enough to use it propperly. it does 23c damage when used with a shield. that's not normal for a heavy sword, and it's a hand and a half-sword(look at the handle) it should a good heavy 1handed sword, 94 speed and 32 c damage would seem fair to me

Should be a little worse then that, otherwise there is very little point in using, say, the Arabian Cavalry Sword.

With all the range nowadays 2hs are getting shafted. Now that I use a shield, I can still get shot by a good archer as I slowly attempt to sword them to death with my shield up. Sometimes I just grab a fast 1h and with 0 wpf its so much faster than a 2h bastard.

So a point of speed a point of damage and an extra slot taken are practically nothing? Hmmm....

Considering it is more then canceled out by having a very good two handed mode, yeah...

I remember when I tried using the mace (you know the most used weapon on the whole game) with a shield, maybe a month ago. It was so slow I could have been outspammed by great maul sideswings. At first people die because they are surprised by your awkward speed but it doesn't last long.
I say reduce the penalties if possible. They should not be as good as 1h in general, but slightly better only in terms of reach.

i did, and it isn't a dueling class, and it never should be good in dueling imo, but they should get an overhead stab though.

I'm not saying they should be GOOD in dueling, but having one attack direction that is so slow anything but mauls can spam them... That's just too much!

Hoplite is crap for duelling. But has the possibilities of both a shielder and a pikeman when it comes to teamwork. You can turtle up and let you friends do the dirty work when you are attacked, and be extremely annoying if not deadly to those that attack your friends. The needed behavior is very different from all other classes, but the class can be used properly and quite effectively.

I know. I have a full built hoplite alt. But it really needs a buff. Just giving it one more attack direction is all it needs, if not that a speed buff. Jus taking away the speed penalty when you use it with a shield would be good enough. I'm not saying it is USELESS I am saying it is the most underpowered melee option.

I remember this being discussed a couple of times already in the past, never been addressed.
A whole new game style would open up with this change. I for one would make a 1h/2h hybrid with longsword or something.
Fuck I would even make a 1h/2h/shield/throwing hybrid with that change lol :D

but the problem with the buff of hoplite jarlek, would mean that somewep like awlpike gets an buff which would make it OP.

Awlpike unusable with shield and/or a revamp of its stats. Just because one weapon would be OP then doesn't mean that a whole class should be useless for it.
