Title: Go back to the retire once a week?
Post by: epoch on August 11, 2011, 09:18:47 pm
Who other than I would think that going back to the retiring 1 time a week would be the best thing...

chadz made it so you have to be a no lifer to retire a bunch, lets just c if every one would rather just have it be fair for everyone.

Are you kidding? It'll still be the no lifers getting ahead, because they're the only ones who could be bothered to retire on a weekly basis. They'd just be doing it a lot faster.

Most no lifers retire faster than a week..... How hard would it be to log on 1 time a week to retire if you didnt have time to play.....

Unless you're the most lazyass inthe world

It takes a little over 70 hours of playing on average with a base Gen1 character to retire...

Other MMOs demands THOUSANDS of hours for end game material.

I have zero sympathy, as this is the fastest mmo I have ever played in my entire life.

You play with peeps, you play against peeps, you collect gold and xp, you grind for uber heirloom items, you post on a community forum about the game and each other, there are a shit ton of servers, there are player found guilds/factions, and we fight for land and crap on strategus. There are also thousands of unique cd keys playing, every now and then there is a patch, sometimes new content...

Sounds like an MMO to me.

Sounds like an MMO to me.

It lacks the most basic part of an mmo and part of the name... the massive part

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Massively_multiplayer_online_game

All of the servers combined do support "hundreds to thousands" at once. We even can do two hundred in the same server at once if needed. Strategus has thousands of little buggers running around on it at the same time too...

Either way, fits it.

Retiring doesn't help that much.  You can be a perfectly effective and successful level 28 if you have skill and a good build.  You'll be able to compete against level 30-35 players with looms - sure you'll be at a disadvantage but nothing ample skill can't surpass.

Compared to the vast ocean of grind in MMOs out there you're barely dipping your feet in the kiddie pool in c-RPG.

So true.

Why shouldn't people who play the game more benefit more from it?
I don't see why it would be unfair tbh.

Also:
There is already a generation XP bonus limit set at generation 15 (or 16).
You can only equip 9 items at a time.
You can't trade with alternative characters.

However, what will happen in time is that heirloomed items will drop in price as more and more people have more heirloomed items than slots to equip.
At some point everypone will run around with 9 slots of +3 heirloomed items.

A limit like the one suggested would make it take longer before we reach that point though.

Suggeston: remove heirlooms totally, it only brings unbalance and unfair advantage to "no lifers"

You can't take heirlooms with you into strat, who gives a crap. You are of more use if you never retire.

Duh, where did you think you were?

Now let me be, I must cast various curses on people I don't like and summon the dead and make your cattle go mad!

That's another option. I suggested that when I started to play crpg :)
The thing is that no lifers would not waste their time on this game if grinding was a waste ;)

Seriously though, there would definately be a drop of players if heirlooming was removed...
And then players would drop because of dropping players and so on...

Wouldn't be as fun with half the player base gone... I would probably quit this game too in time.

If you want everybody to have equal access to gear, then go play Native.

Six months here, two loom points, lvl 29/Gen 3. AND I DONT GIVE A FUUUCK!

What everyone here needs to learn is that CRPG's goal isn't complete balance, though CRPG aims for a balanced game overall.

End of story!

Whats the problem with people retiring once a week? Heirlooms arent that usefull anymore.

I have 2 +3 items I haven't used in a while and I've been having a blast with an unheirloomed shortened spear and an unheirloomed espada eslavona (the short one).

Still get about the same scores in light gear with those weapons compared to running around in a +3 armour with a +3 weapon. Upkeep is remarkably lower too
