This current system isn't fun. I repaired my courser 8 times in a row, lost 10k. This should be more predictable.

obviously you can predict ur horse is gonna rape ur account, terribly bad luck, i played like 10maps on my horse and didnt paid a single time, even while on warhorse and charger and such, so thanks for covering for me, bud :))

ım not millonaire as some of players..unkeep must low.. OR gold income must nerf...
-
i wear full plate 100% of the time and have 100k how do i do it?
I WIN!

+1
I agree, repairs should be constant not random.
So that before battle, i can see, can i afford these items or not.
Every round, no matter is it win or lose, it should allways be same % repair cost, of the items you had with you. :!:
No luck, no random factors.

Sounds pretty much like native :D

Holy buttfuck guys.
Upkeep is literally 2% more than it used to be.
Stop complaining and adapt.

Pre-patch: Upkeep sustainability was 50K assuming X2 modifier average (granted we all know it is actually 1.9~)
Post-Patch: Upkeep sustainability was between 20-30K
Hotfix: Sustainability is roughly a little over 46K
Summarization of Dexxtaa's post: Stop Complaining
-
I'm not complaining, you.
I'm saying that it's silly to complain about the upkeep.
I hold over 100k on the cost of my armor and weapons, and I'm still turning a profit albeit a small one. I don't understand how people are complaining about it.
I'm pro-patch, anti-whinger
And this whole random-constant thing is silly. I like the randomness. It makes it fun and risky.
Much like unprotected sex.
-
Most people don't hold over 100k. New players are getting shafted; there is no way a week old player with 10k can play cav, since a few unlucky rounds means he's bankrupt.

Post edited for clarification, I can understand the confusion of what I was trying to convey

Here's a useful link.

You pay rent each month; you don't randomly get charged a percentage of the price of the apartment. That would be nonsensical.

That's true, but when you use a stick to beat a peasant, you don't know when the stick is going to break

Its probability, over time it averages out, so it really is a flat fee

True, but then again sometimes I have to fix my plumbing, sometimes the water heater etc. I already bought all of it at once, and own the house, but I still have to pay random repairs for things randomly breaking. Luckily I set aside money every month in "preparation" for this so I don't have a heart attack if a big item breaks (Like a water heater).

And occasionally ALL of those brakes at the same time. The water heater, the plumbing, the electric system etc. It happens VERY rarely but it usually means you are fucked UNLESS you got a lot of money stored. You DO have money stored do you? If not you will have to use the broken equipment until you get enough money to repair it (or borrow money).

Lucky then for me that I lived in a cheap two room apartment until I had a large reserve for that house, so to speak. cRPG players should be aware that this crap can happen, and not live "Paycheck to Paycheck."

Agreed. That flat I had (re: dumbster with a small lamp and cardboard for clothes) really helps me now in my mansion :D

Well if upkeep isn't that bad, which I believe it is now (4k loss in little over an hour) then fix the freaking autobalance. I was on the winning team hit a x2 multiplyer and boom autobalanced, same thing happened next two rounds. Keep getting tossed to the losing team, at the end of the map Im out 4k and my kill ratio is 27-8. My 1hander costs 800gold for upkeep and I wear medium quality armor with a shitty starter shield. Something isn't right....
I used to be able to join , mess around for a few hours and gain 1-3k gold depending on how well we did. Now its not even possible with autobalance tossing me to the losing team every time we win due to my high k/d ratio.
Lower upkeep costs, balance them on 1handers , half the cost of 2handers. And fix the autobalance please. The game just became unplayable for me.
-
The request is completely reasonable, and moreover, makes far more sense that the current method without involving any fundamental change.
Points about realism are irrelevant. Upkeep isn't there to add 'realism' to the game. It is, supposedly, meant to benefit newer players by preventing too many people from running around in full plate.
The obscurity of information related to upkeep costs does not promote this purpose or serve any other end; it merely makes things more difficult for newer players. The upkeep cost should be constant per tick, and it should be displayed on your character's equipment page for whatever default build you put up - and perhaps as well the per-item cost on the buying page.
That would change nothing for the rest of us, but only make it easier for newer players to see what they are able to afford. Objecting to that is.. quite ridiculous.
-
Some small fights lasting less then 1 min, you'll pay upkeep and that's ridicilously high comparing to its income. So tick based system would be a lot better. Even maybe prevent hiding.

I'm gonna do a little testing on my own: I have a setup that costs 46,354 gold on the website, and I currently have 56,749 banked. I'll play like this for as long as I can remember to and report back.
Gear in question:
Gothic Plate
War Cleaver
Open Sallet with Coif
Gauntlets
Splinted Leather Greaves over Mail
edit: I had a Military Cleaver which got me that total, but I'm not well versed in 1H without shield, so I switched to the atual War Cleaver which brought the total to 47,908. A bit higher but not drastically so.
-
So now I'm at 53,187. A loss of about 3500 over three hours. Up to 60k at one point, down to 52k. Average multi of about x2.
-
I've been earning gold (slowly) with bad multipliers and 41k of equipment.
-
Ugh, down to 48,700. Been paying my Gothic Plate every other round.
-
upkeep isnt a problem if im in robes,
and normally i have no problem going robes when im on losing streaks.
once i get 10k i can wear my coat of plates through at least 4 rolling loss games before im broke.
the ONLY thing that pisses me off is when i sit down, smoke, get all ready,
and then sit there for 2 hours while two or 3 maxxi-builds group together and i get -x5 rolling blackouted by the enemy side.
it seems to be like that one dude said RANDOM LUCK that effects which side your on.
i mean, if you could choose who you fight for,
and have pride knowing that team is strong enough to win
whats the solution?
strategus : )

what is this "broke" everyone keeps babbling about?
