It looks surprisingly terrible to be honest. They should've just made an animated movie if they're going to use greenscreen and CGI 90% of the time. That CGI is awful also, it looks even more plastic than in previous Hobbit.

It's hilarious how they went from relatively excellent looking real actors with makeups and real locations in Fellowship of the Ring, to over nine thousand crappy CGI orcs in Two Towers but still real locations and/or miniatures, to even more CGI in Return of the King (which looks kinda bad already) to absolutely shitty everything CG and terrible makeups in Hobbits.

Game Balance Discussion / Fix one-handed overhead
« on: July 02, 2012, 06:06:04 pm »
1. Remove turning speed limitations for one-handed weapons, it's been already hard enough to hit with an overhead without it, now it's just asking for death.
2. Remove early active animations for one-handed overhead. It's a joke that in crowded places one-handers in fact have it way harder to actually score a hit than anyone else because overhead gets stuck on the guy behind, right swing is obviously out of the question and left swing glances a lot due to sweetspots and has super short range. Stab is as useless as always and bounces pretty much always at anything but facehug range. In short, two-handers are superior even in group fights in crowded/tight places because of the reliable stab, range, much more forgiving animations and kicking.

PS.

Will it be fixed to something reasonable anytime soon? One-handers have 2 attacks available ATM vs. competent two-handed player, left swing and the slow right swing.

Previous thread hasn't been updated since the beginning of time so here's a new compilation. I reuploaded most of these mods so there shouldn't be any problems with download. Everything was actually tested and confirmed as working by me.

Will be continued once I have some time to look for few other mods I know of that have been sort of forgotten. Stay tuned.

SOUND MODS:

More Metal Sounds

This makes sounds, well, more metal, brutal and meatish. A must-have in my opinion. Youtube example

Download
Important Use the latest sounds.txt file from this thread, it works with new cRPG versions. (if the sounds text file you downloaded from that thread is named anything else but "sounds.txt." - for example if it's sounds(2).txt - you must first rename it to exactly "sounds.txt".)

Backup "sounds.txt" in modules/cRPG. Copy "Sounds" and sounds.txt  to your modules/cRPG. Overwrite.

Screaming woman fix. Paste this to Warband/Sounds.

Sounds of Suffer

This is an upgrade-mod for More Metal Sounds, it makes people die in more audible agony, cracking skulls and screams of unlucky guys who got their limbs severed are way better. Very tasty. Okay, I need help.

Download

Copy to cRPG/Sounds, overwrite.

Heavy Hooves (for native sounds, not for More Metal)
Horses are louder and more hearable. A must-have for any archer twat.

Download

Backup Warband/Sounds (it's in your main folder, not Modules/... etc.). Copy these sounds, overwrite.

Louder Horses (for More Metal Sounds)
Pretty much same as above but compatible with MMS.

Download

Backup Modules/cRPG/Sounds. Copy and overwrite.

VISUAL MODS:

Realistic Colors
Your Warband doesn't look like disney anymore with this. Replaces bright and shiny textures with more grimdark and gritty looking ones. You can add taller grass with this aswell. A must have for DX9 users.

Native crosshair here, if for some weird reason you'd like that hideous thing back.

Old arrow/bolt flying model

For me, and for a whole lot of people, new "realistic" arrows are rather impossible to track in flight. Therefore here's how you can bring back the old, "blurred" and much larger version of flying projectiles.

As for now, you can just use this made by me itemkinds1 file which does the trick (though when cRPG updates it might replace it or it become incompatible)  (updated 18-11-12)

What to do with this:
1. Backup itemkinds1.txt, it's in Modules/cRPG
2. Copy the downloaded file there and overwrite.

Now, the manual method (when above becomes outdated) looks like this:

ScaryMod by Segd version 4.0 now!

If you use modified particle_system.txt, you have to do this by hand. If not and you feel lazy, I uploaded one version here -> http://www.mediafire.com/view/v3mlci3l280bddb. It's using the 5th tweak (open artery++).

(Thanks korppis)

Hey there.

Lately I was going to apply Heavy Hooves to my Warband to combat ninja horses phenomenon, unfortunately it turns out it's for native sounds only and if you would be planning to use it with More Metal sounds there's a lot of fiddling to do. So I just decided that I'll just make a somewhat upgraded version instead. And will share it with you, since sometimes I'm a nice person.

This is for More Metals Sounds. If you don't have it (why wouldn't you I do not know, it's so good) use Heavy Hooves.

The purpose of this minimod is to enhance horses loudness, so you can actually hear cavalry charging. I know, right? Insanity!

How to use this:

1. Backup your Modules/cRPG/sounds.
2. Copy all sounds to Modules/cRPG/sounds, overwrite.

Download:

Now, there are two versions of this, first one is completely usable even for cavalry players, it just makes horses some decibels louder.
The other one is, well... much louder.

Standard edition

Deluxe PREPARE TO GO DEAF edition

Reccomending the normal version, by the way.

Game Balance Discussion / Jumpshot fix was reverted? (solved)

Just realized this. There are no words.

8
How often will it bounce off torso hits medium armored targets with 5 ps and 105 wpf, no speed bonus?

9
Just curious since I see that nothing has been fixed in this regard since the last time I played here several months ago. It's still often sight that one team has 80% of cavalry or ranged. And its a feature that has been requested since the dawn of time.

Finally it starts to look like a siege with defending the walls and bottlenecks instead of braindead camping the flag to win.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Need an opinion on cav build

(click to show/hide)

Haven't played cav before almost at all so my main concerns are:
1. Is 90 wpf 'ok' for heavy lance?
2. Is 6 riding generally enough atm or I will get chased down/outmaneuvered by people who have bit more?

Keep in mind that my priority is to keep full functionality as heavy infantry aswell, hence 6 shield and ath.
