download hotfix (apply after installing full) from: http://road-house.org/crpgmirror/hotfix240.rar (http://road-house.org/crpgmirror/hotfix240.rar)

mostly strategus equipment:
all siege equipment moves less wonky on hills now
you can now control them left-right while they are moving
increased large siege tower size by 1.3
added small siege tower
catas need ammo (use CM near them to refill)
walls no longer sink, but get destroyed properly (2 destruction levels)
added weapon rack to restock ammo or to loot the battlefield
added forward base to use as a respawn point in strat
item changes, we're trying to get a changelog of those
removed scaling from strategus
several bugfixes
server owners are STRONGLY ADVICED to use the WSE.exe to run their server. cmp will post a manual on that one.
scene/map system got changed. server owners, please don't just copy the old files over the new ones, you'll have to edit the changes in the text files manually.
probably a few more things we forgot...

edit:
archery damage defined by arrows, not by bows
throwing got the extra_penetration flag, so it behaves like archery&xbow vs armor

Longbow back to cut:

30 cut damage (4 increase on piercing damage)
40 missile speed (slight increase +2 I believe)
100 accuracy I think too, although that will make no difference...

Masterwork Bodkin arrows reduced damage to 3 pierce. Reduction from 7, so 4 less damage.

So i've lost no actual damage but due to reverting back to cutting, it's another (damage) nerf.

I'm a little miffed...

Most of short swords got a buff to pierce damage. Espada eslavona (not long) is 30 pierce now without a loom!, italian sword is 25 pierce and most nordic short swords got from 21 pierce to 22 or 23.

Just lasted for 3 minutes :D

I'm in different other than the fact that it's in keeping with the "nerf archery every patch" golden rule. Although I would ditch that accuracy in favour of a bit more damage back... =/

159 wpf, 6PD, MW Longbow was fine for being a sharpshooter anyway.

That basically puts bows to how they were before they were ever changed to cut damage. 

Xbow's speed rating is so high as well that its going to be a ranged fest for a while.

Too bad my university starts again today so I won't be online much ahha.

In effect my longbow has been buffed in missile speed and accuracy, if ever so slightly. Damage is the same from what I can gather, 33 damage Masterwork longbow, 3 arrows, 36 piercing damage, pre patch was 29 and 7 therefore 36 piercing damage.

Guys, I appreciate the adjustments... but cav bump-stun was really unnecessary and makes 1 hand cav almost unplayable, but does not affect lancer cav as much.

It does not even make sense and looks ridiculous as well. What was the intent behind that?

Ok, so a quick summary of "hidden" changes:

Archery
Damage is changed by the arrows that you use.
Slight increase to missile speed
Slight increase to accuracy
Decrease in damage done by arrows
Increase in damage done by bows



Cavalry
Horses are harder to ride.
Rider is bumped when bumping.



Throwing
Throwing gets the "extra_penetration flag" (works the same as archery and crossbows)

The difficulty increase on the "fast" horses is pretty intense.  Basically it means you are either paying tons of money to ride an armored horse or you are sacrificing a lot of STR because you need high enough riding to ride the fast horses.

Even the Desert horse is 6 difficulty.

Are we sure about the rider bumped thing or is that a troll?

I love how the developers made archery more realistic than it was!

But wouldn't the poor Long Bow be at a disadvantage compared to Rus Bow? I guess we can only test and find out :D

I remember hearing from someone, probably Shik, that the crossbow speeds were increased while the actual animations used were slowed down. So in effect, the crossbows end up reloading about as fast as they did before the patch, but it removes the delay on shooting that you experience with slower xbows like the arbalest.

Or something along these lines. Don't get freaked out by the new xbow speeds, basically.

I just bought the cheapest 750K for MW Bodkins :) :))))))))).  MW horn bow with MW bodkins is fricken ridiculous.  I think horse archery will be huge now.

No issues, playing now.  Horse bump animation looks retarded.  Desert horse riding skill 6 and plated charger 5... makes perfect sense (sarcasm).  Throwing lances are indeed 1 shot kills.  Maybe I am paranoid but been playing 20 minutes now and ranged already seems more abundant :/

No issues, playing now.  Horse bump animation looks retarded.  Desert horse riding skill 6 and plated charger 5... makes perfect sense (sarcasm).  Throwing lances are indeed 1 shot kills.  Maybe I am paranoid but been playing 20 minutes now and ranged already seems more abundant :/

Due to Cav and Range being the most effected by this, most people are going to use their cav and range characters to test stuff out.

I hate you chadz. I hate you so much. By the time I retire my chars so they can ride their horses again you'll probably have devised another way of ruining them for me.

Seriously though, I play games to have fun. Playing a useless char for two more weeks is not exactly going to fit the bill.

I demand a non-level-reducing full respec. It's only fair to the cav. Come on devs, you've gotta realise that a lot of cav players are the ones who've been at this game the longest(due to the high cost of equipment and repairs) and a lot of us are settled, as in not wanting to retire anymore(lvl 32+). This fucks a large portion of the community over and forces damn near all cav to either retire or respec with no promise whatsoever of these changes being permanent. This is too big of a change for cav to just accept and continue playing. Seriously. You need to do something.

As HA, yes.

As one hand cav, you are pretty much fucked. On low cav speeds even unarmed archers just walk into my horses path to avoid getting hit. Rinse and repeat, no fun and it looks ridiculous.

So with this update anyone I try to slash from horseback with my 1h + shield cav, which isn't easy to play in the first place, can just jump into the path of my horse and somehow bump me aswell as them? great lol.

EDIT: Also just noticed I can only ride heavy type horses because of my 5 riding, well other than steppe horse. Cavs been getting hit hard the past days and according to some people in here, their archery has been buffed. Nevermind guess I will just try rip someone off on the market with my useless heirloomed cavalry sword and respec to something else when I retire.

Seriously chadz you've killed 90% of existing cav builds. It NEEDS to be addressed.

For one thing, the most effective cav build right now is one that uses no weapon, but simply bumps people to death with a plated charger. Only 5 riding too.

I like most of the patches Updates. But WTF did u do to cav. Horsebump both to cav and victim, and increase riding skill to ride horses u might as will increase all the skills to uses on all items to make it fair. Just by reading the update for cav u just F us badly. But good job on everything else.

I wouldn't say it's hilariously good, remember that throwers can carry few ammo, and also with jarids it takes 2-3 hits to kill an enemy with average armor and IF. Crossbows and bows are still better than throwing weapons.
Ah, I forgot to say that unless you spend a huge amount of wpf in throwing weapons, it will say that your proficency is too low, and this means that you can't have a pure strength build.

Well my thrower has 11 PT, 3 athl, 3 WM. 2-3 throwing lances, other slots for hammers or javelins. Lances are guaranteed kills, if you miss you just go pick them up again. Maybe it's not as good as it was, but it's doable now.

Feedback and insights after testing 4 maps:

> About archery:

- Getting 2 shot by HA and foot archers with Horn Bow while raining, while running with 67 body armor and 6 Iron Flesh.
- Getting a loomed hunting bow + bodkin arrows must make you a god now, even without the jump stringpull animation anymore, horn bowers are like that anyway.



> About throwing:

- Getting 1 shot by Horse Throwers and Foot Throwers under the same armor and IF values, hybrids taking from 70% to 90% hp.



> About crossbows:

- Didn't survive long enough every round to have the pleasure of tasting a crossbow shot.


I don't know man, I just don't know. I was a ranger (skirmisher) for 8 or more gens (I'm 15 now), and I never imagined that ranged could get carried to such an high positioned idiotic point in this mod.

I can only hope this is the normal b****** post-patch, that we're so used to now (or at least should be).

Seriously what cav doesn't have 6 riding? Unless you really stacked on strength before. But I certainly don't know anyone in GK who doesn't have at least 6 riding. So it's not really a problem the way I see it. They are the top tier horses after all.

It's an increase of +2 for the courser and +3 for the arabian. Who has 7 riding? Not to mention your anecdotal info about 'the cav you know' actually has nothing to do with how a char is built. There is a world of difference to those who play cav as their main.

Well I saw quite a few people riding arabians today. Lancers. So plenty of people apparently. The cav I know are largely dedicated mains and I know exactly how most of them are built. So yeah...

Funnily enough I was the only HA on though that was riding a courser. The rest were on rouncey, destrier or steppe. So your theory is apparently wrong.

The fact is, the vast increase is unwarranted - it was not unbalanced. The fact that you need 2 more riding skill for the arabian than you do for a 65k plated charger makes absolutely no sense to the games mechanics. This means that any HA who builds for the arabian now has a +2 riding bonus when using a plated. That's a fucking retarded reality.

Well Kerrigan, Lorenzo, and a couple of other GK. Then there were 2 randomers who I saw an hour ago. Can't remember their names. And of the first map I played in the desert when there were still only 30 on the server, there were a few as well.

Most of the guys riding around on anything less seemed to be 1h cav or ranged cav.

The reason it makes sense is because it has been argued that riding a horse like an Arabian takes a lot more skill than riding a plated charger. Thus needing more riding. The price for the plated charger is the balancing factor. As to whether the devs actually based it on that random realism argument. I don't know. I'm just saying what the argument for it has been in the past.

If they increased requirements for heavy horses you'd have a heavy horse except your character would be weak due to needing to pump agi to get extra riding. That would be kinda pointless. Increasing requirements for the faster horses makes it so the rider is not as 'tough' and thus balances well with the horse not being the 'heavy' role.

I never mentioned increasing the riding req for heavies either, but decreasing? Fine. I'll shut up. It seems like not enough people care about chadz deleting classes so it's gonna go unchecked until there's basically no deviation or customisation in the classes anymore. Everyone will be using the same shit, with the same build and you and your ilk are to blame for the fucking mess this mod is becoming by simply accepting it.

Yeah it makes so much fucking sense to have everyone doing the same thing. That's why C-rpg exists right? So we could all be playing THE SAME FUCKING CHARS AS NATIVE.

If they increased requirements for heavy horses you'd have a heavy horse except your character would be weak due to needing to pump agi to get extra riding. That would be kinda pointless. Increasing requirements for the faster horses makes it so the rider is not as 'tough' and thus balances well with the horse not being the 'heavy' role.

Lichen and I don't agree on a lot of stuff, but this actually makes a ton of sense. I was wondering how they would find a way to differentiate between "light cavalry" and "heavy cavalry", when people could wear full plate on an overwhelmed little courser. Thanks for pointing that out Lichen, +1'd.  :D

Forward Base = MOST AWSOME FEATURE (WIN)
Weapon Rack = WIN
Old school shitty small siege tower = WIN
Huge siege tower = EPIC WIN
Catapult ammo = Nothing important, place a weapon rack near your cata to get ammo quick.
Walls damage = Tried on ruins , i hit a ruined wall with a catapult for more than 15 times, nothing happened.
Archery Buff = Although it is annoying , it's WIN.
Turkish helmets = WIN but boerk needs to have more armor.Because boerks which used in 14th Century had steel protectors inside ketch.
Reflective bump = EPIC WIN ! At last we got rid of ridiculous bump/slash bs.
New riding values = Nothing important (except arabian warhorse 7 riding :O) most of the cav had 6 riding anyway.But still it is a positive addition.
*removed scaling from strategus = FAIL if you didn't remove Battle Duration Limit with scaling system.10k v 10k battles lasts for 3 hours.3 hours to kill 10k...It won't be enough imho.

It doesnt work on all walls, mostly just on those that are used to bulid castles. Try hosting a deathmatch server with the map castle_25_exterior , for example

also, it changes to damaged after 3 or 4 shots, and to destroyed after 15. so if you see no change after 4 shots, it's not a working wall. We should probably give a message when hitting na object that cant be destroyed.

Seriously what cav doesn't have 6 riding? Unless you really stacked on strength before. But I certainly don't know anyone in GK who doesn't have at least 6 riding. So it's not really a problem the way I see it. They are the top tier horses after all.

ummm i have 4, what i can ride only camel now... can i respec this 4 points into shield, as i expect huge increase of range..?

Did some testing late last night with Urist on the duel server it appears:

Arrows are currently only cut damage, it took me the same amount of arrows for Masterwork Bodkin as it did with normal arrows (Both +3 damage). That'll get changed soon so technically nothing has changed for archery other than the fact that the best arrows have become expensive versions of the worst temporarily! :P

Secondly, from what I can gather, the horse bump - bump rider thing isn't supposed to be quite so effective and all this whining about "omg i'm going to need to respec!?!" is very very premature since WSE has only just been added and things are still needed to be tested regardless of whether or not they've been tested previously, give the devs a break, they're doing their best to make sure that the game works in the correct way.
As far as I understand it, they're going to stop the rider bump for different speed cavalry, I don't know whether or not they wanted it to work under a certain speed or above one (both would make sense, fast moving cav would lean into their swings and would be trying to kill you while going slower would reduce the effects of a bump anyway but you wouldn't be on guard quite so much so you'd get caught out.) but just hold your horses, pun intended, and wait for things to get ironed out.

I have no news on anything else since we only tested those two things, not even sure if I am allowed to post this but I am just to give the devs some time to do their job. It's always like this after a patch and this is no exception due to a technically massive update and change to the equipment the devs have to work with.

I'm in different other than the fact that it's in keeping with the "nerf archery every patch" golden rule. Although I would ditch that accuracy in favour of a bit more damage back... =/

Also, added some more I remembered after I clicked post.

Its a archer Buff.

You got Piercing Damage with every Bow now, if u want to...
And can switch to Cut damage if u want to kill Softer Targets faster...
And Some Bows got Buffed Stats.

My friendly archer clanmate (Mustamy old friend)used to kill me with 2-3 shots to chest, now he needs 6-8 shots with same equipment,same builds löl.
Once we told him that if he uses bodkin now, he'll deal pierce damage he went "Yaaaaaaaay hurray ! It's my best fucking day hahahaha" when we tried it out on duel server he started to rage  :twisted:.

MW Rus Bow + MW Bodkin arrows hits Lordly Heraldic Transitional.

6 or 7 pd (i can't remember how many points that my old friend had on PD exactly) and i have 6 if.

Suggestion: After patches disable the marketplace for at least 24 hours so people can alter what they put up, so things like this does not happen

Nerf cav? This is getting border line unplayable. Another mod might be in the near future if this keeps up. Leave it alone, the game was fine I thought. If we bend a knee to every peasant's demand, we will be fighting with rocks and staffs. Native is avail for poor players ya know.

Once the bodkin arrows work as intended I think this is a great change for bows.  Further tweaking might be needed with internal balance (long bow doesn't seem compensated enough compared to the rus and others due to it's slow shoot speed, bodkins might make other bows quite strong in current form, etc) but I think this is a great start!

I know that the Arrows are broken, but if this is fixed its a buff. Plain and simple ;)
I am good with this little archer buff. Cuz Cut-Damage with bows was too low on most armors.

updated my post with a hotfix in case you already have the 0.240 version.

you can either use the full download i linked after deleting your old version or just overwrite (shouldn't really matter)
no hotfix needs to be applied if you use the full download from here (http://forum.c-rpg.net/index.php/topic,16105.msg230550.html#msg230550)

the hotfix only works if version 0.240 is already installed.

my full download is smaller (162mb instead of 223mb) due to better compression.

already have a charger and i like it!!!! so plated charger will be uber tank version for my morningstar!!!!!!
i tried to follow up but it s hard:
news about cav as far as i understood are:

- changes in riding levels ( my personal opnion is it is correct as you have to be a better cav to handle faster horses, but on the other hand you pay less upkeep as players with heavy horses - quite realistic if you think at it this way- ( heavy horses were slow and trained during years so that their owners could ride them safely in the heart of battle - on the other had they were really expensive and only a few could afford them ), fast horses were cheaper but harder to ride ( the RIDERS had to train for years to ride them succesfully -think of mongols- which corresponds to the RIDING ABILITY and not the upkeep )

- bump and slash not possible, well i guess it was hard to do it in real life........BECAUSE IF YOU WERE BUMPED YOU WERE DEAD lol.

-didn't understood the dmg changes in bumps? i read that less damage, more damage, damage to the rider, but not clear, anybody could clarify pls?

As soon as I leave ninja they buff the katana! Patches always scare me, luckily none of my day to day items got affected, but who knows what ranged will do to me now.

No, all bows are cut and pierce - archery damaged defined by arrow. meaning: if you have arrow that has cut dmg, you do cut dmg- arrow that has pierce dmg, you do pierce dmg. So, the only way to get pierce dmg is to use bodkin arrow. but u can get pierce dmg with any bow. (Bodkin 1pierce, the one before 6cut) (:

Khazakh Boots looks invisible to me and the Khazakh Outfit looks like the heavy kuyak, any fix for this?

[Edit]: Looks like Fasader was hiding a hotfix for it in some obscure part of this thread.

Well +2 damage for - 9 draw speed is a bit too much, don't you think? Either buff the draw speed a bit or make it true long bow by buffing missile speed greatly.

And people actually wanted Rus Bow even before this patch, the only problem was that there are so few MW Rus bows or their owners didn't want to sell them. After all it was more expensive than mw long bow pre patch.

Right now there's no choice. Everyone will try to get MW Rus bow cause it's clearly better than MW Long bow. MW Long bow isn't in the same position as it was 9 months ago (when it was super duper slow and basically no one used it) but it's far from good internal balance. They probably punished it for being too "popular" as they often do...

Also why buff Katana and leave Nodachi undesirable sword? Bring Nodachi stab back, 18 tops but it should stab like it used to. Don't understand why Katana has stab and Nodachi has not...

@Leshma: What's your prob with the longbow atm?  Be happy they raised the speed to 50 a few patches ago. Before there was always this delay cause of the speed. I agree it could be a bit faster when you reload, but actually I'd prefer keeping devs hands away from archery :D
Btw, longbow has more missile speed than rusbow :) and the damage is higher. And the accuracy is finally equal :)  I think it's ok that it's slower

It's a lot slower, missile speed is greater by 1 point and damage is up by 2 which is marginal increase if you compare it to clearly superior draw speed of Rus bow. People are already exchanging MW Long bow for MW Rus bow (me included) cause MW Rus bow is new FOTM. Having FOTM item in the game means poor item balance.

That's the reason I picked it. Plus I've read endless books about Longbows, non-fiction and fiction and so I had to make an archer alt with that. I didn't even look at the stats of it and compare nor did I care what it felt like to play with. I was just happy to be using one and that it looks cool :D

Leed will get great scores even on foot. I saw his horse downed for most of the round and he still got something like 6 kills without being killed himself all on foot.

That's because he has athletics and good ps and has skill (!). If he's still doing good cav are balanced. When killing stuff becomes troublesome for him, cav will be UP. Before the first cav nerf, even the biggest idiots who couldn't kill anyone on foot had great scores as lancers... right now xbowmen took their place...

Didn't they say accuracy with bows was increased now? Doesn't seem to be. My reticule grows veeerrry very fast and the bow doesn't seem more accurate than before at all....And I know my eyes are not broken suddenly^^
But maybe it's just because of the nojumping. It's very hard now to find the perfect moment to stop walking while you draw your bow...walk half a second too long and you have 1/4 of a second to aim and shoot -.-


Dear devs, I don't know how you calculate your damage etc, but archery damage has been nerfed. Played a bit now and it is reduced.
One example: There was a peasant witha  tunic ! and I didn't oneshot him, although I have mw longbow and mw bodkins and I am lvl 32 with 7 pd and 8 wm.....Usually people in heavier armour died after 1 shot -.-

try to ride a naked nervous and fast horse OR try to ride a heavy, slow moving horse that has been trained during years for not being afraid of combat and going straight with only a few foot movement of his rider ( because the rider generally had the two hand busy ) think about it...

All horses would be broken before being used, and ask yourself, why do you have to train that armored horse for years? To eliminate the unnaturalness and the uncomfortableness of wearing all that barding. The horse is only slow moving because of the extra hundreds of pounds of armor. If you want to give coursers a +5 to maneuverability and speed than sure, require more riding skill. Hell even give back the loom nerf to coursers with a couple extra stat points and it might be ok. And anyone with an Arabian is even more screwed.

Plus this is two major nerfs to cav on the heels of an already major cav nerf. How do you call it balancing when you dont even make conservative modifications? one at a time?

This is a horrible metric. Carebare harmless peasant used to dominate entire teams with peasant robes and a shitty club. That doesn't mean it should be nerfed.

Cmp has been working on it for ages.  The suggestion to do so was around for a very long time, probably before yours.  It was simply impossible with the existing code.  Cmp had to do what was basically impossible.

I'd believe that yes, and that it's a good thing, like that they can still support melee against other melee and cavalry without being fucking invincible because they can just block whenever anyone get close to them.

I don't know what you're on about but I have a peasant character with 1 Ironflesh and I can get hit by a single arrow and have only half my health gone  :lol:

The helmets are fine now, the armour is still the same. You updated it again or...?

Also, did something happen to 1h damage? I seem to do much less, yet the damage value is supposedly the same.

Thanks for the new features and the costant work, however a long bow/rus bow better balancing(the rus bow now is simply better)along with some more cav balance(new riding requirements compared to prestations and bumps to horse rider are a bit meh)would be appreciated

Something seems to be wrong with hitboxes dear devteam. While fighting with my 2hander I'm very often bouncing from something invisible midair o.O
And I also bounced off a rouncey with 6 powerstrike, while it came towards me.
And I bounced off a guy with very light armour a few times while fighting.

Didn't happen before.
