Yeah could be messy...unless you kept it locked and just allowed people to vote.

That would give a decent indicator of what the overall population thinks of each map....if a map didn't get many votes it would mean that it was less liked by the community overall.  If a map got a lot of votes, the opposite.

Could work.

Nice initiative, glad to see the amount of maps that there are, I thought it was smaller.

Not sure if it has been fixed, but the lighthouse's inner gates (the ones that lead to the flag) can be opened from outside, which makes it very easy to attack.

Yep, fixed in next update.

@Elindor: Yeah, that might work better.

I definitely like the level of detail in the OP Fips. If I don't recognize a map by name, I don't have to hunt down screenshots.  :D  The time you spent taking all those screenshots is very much appreciated.

I decided to sticky this, the other map rotation thread is outdated anyway. Here is the current cycle with pictures. If you want to provide feedback, please look up the correct name in this thread instead of the ingame name, because they are mostly wrong. Then proceed to http://forum.meleegaming.com/scene-editing/(feedback)-maps-on-official-servers/510/ to provide the feedback.

Please note that a lot of fixing and changes in the rotation are already pending. If it has been an obvious bug for a while you can assume it is fixed, and if it is incredibly hilly you can assume it has been removed from the rotation :P

We also have a disagreement with Jacko about how the server config file works exactly, but we think there are some maps in the OP that are not actually in the server, including for example the following:
Scott Seasalt
Village 38c (Ibiran)
Iron Mine

Don't think any of these maps have been played on EU 1 at least, since the last map patch which was in March, even though they are listed in the rotation. If anybody thinks he has seen them recently, please tell me.

Once, when the map was a foggy open plain and everyone was having trouble finding enemies / long rounds, I picked "Hun in the Sun" as a mapchange. It was not Hun in the Sun (broken names, I know), but a map with field and hill surrounding a low glen of trees. I have never seen this map in rotation. It looks somewhat incomplete but a few people said it was alright and no one complained. I really enjoyed it. If you can figure out what map that is, I'd love to see it in rotation. It's not Screaming Trees, it's much larger with no details beyond terrain and foliage.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far

Ah I understand now, yeah you're talking about Maaseutu 2. It is not in the rotation but we are considering replacing wrandom plains/steppes with non random very open maps like Maaseutu 2 to avoid the generation of random Himalayan mountains.

It was multiple months ago, but I think that's the one. The forest doesn't cause performance issues on my crappy PC, and it doesn't feel confined or man-made like some other forest maps. It was a fresh breath of air compared to TOWNS OR PLAINS (and maybe deserts) in the usual map rotation.

Maaseutu with ruins is nowhere near as fun as the version without.  The ruins draw all the action to a single area.  Maaseutu 2(?) spreads the action throughout the entire forest.

I'd rather play Maaseutu than any random plains or random steppe.

Will do, but the first priorities were battle and siege =P

NP

Just couldn't remember what we put in.

Btw - Old Citadel and White Burg look cool...would be interesting to play those (again not sure if they are in rotation now or still need tweaks)

Added more work for you slaves

The reason Maaseutu_2 has been taken off is due to its bugged.
