Editing Native Multiplayer Maps

I have always used native multiplayer maps (such as port assault, snowy village, etc.) as blank slates to work on in map-making because it was most convenient. This way worked for me a few years ago when my friend had a server and I see no reason why it cannot work again.

There is a problem, however: the native maps are not listed in the SceneObj file under their well-known names shown in-game.

For instance, Snowy Village has that name in-game, but its Scene obj. file and its text within scenes.txt do not match that name. Snowy Village could equal multi_scene_5 or something along those lines.

I'd use the cRPG editor itself and just edit a blank damn map, but it doesn't show up for me in-game even if in windowed mode.

So does anyone out there have a list of which maps correspond to which file listings? I had a hunch that multi_scene_3 = Ruined Fort, but then again I have no foreseeable way to test this.

There is no such list. As long as the names themselves are not fixed you just need to try things out.
When i wanted to test my Blank 01 i had to actually use Blank 21. So just scroll a little up and you might find it. It's really weird, i know.

Also, why are you using the native maps as blanks? Just make your own terrain code and start all over again, much simpler.

Might want to take a look at that link, too: http://forum.meleegaming.com/scene-editing/peasant_woman%27s-simple-and-easy-guide-to-making-a-playable-map-for-crpg/

You can find every map name under your strings.txt file. Open it with notepad++ to get easily readable view.

I've never had a problem loading my maps in the scene editor. I started out with Blank_100 though and then 101 and so on. I also never renamed my maps in the strings.txt because that seems to mess with it.

Ugh and yeah what Mustikki said.

Never renamed my maps as well, yet the names were fucked up whenever i was about to test them in the game. Since like 3 or 4 patches the names no longer match the actual map. I remember changing the map on the clan league, when we wanted to fight on our home-map or one of the other NC-maps (San di bush, Vendetta, and so on) i had to use Distar Castle or something like that. Had a very weird order.

Although they do work in the Scene Editor just fine as mentioned before. Thought you had trouble testing them.
