Anything really. Funny posts, smart posts, downvote dumb posts. Stuff like that.

I wasn't sure if I needed a certain renown level or post count.

You need a certain post count, not sure how big, around 20-30 posts iirc.
Then you'll have +/- display on the right side of the post
