Closed Requests / Re: Autoblocker unban thread
« on: September 22, 2011, 04:15:55 am »
After 4 months of being banned on cRPG, I am asking to please have my main character Blackstone restored.

I used poor judgement in experimenting with autoblock last April 2011 for less than 24 hours of online play time, and for that I am truly sorry. My play style was always about footwork and distancing, so when I read the multiple threads discussing autoblock on the cRPG forums, I searched for it and made the mistake of trying it out.

I am ashamed of my mistake, and why I silently accepted the ban and disengaged from my those I enjoyed playing with. My lesson is learned and I am asking for a second chance. My history is evidence that I will never play unfairly again.

I have always been a contributing cRPG member for the community, with helpful thoughtfully composed threads in both cRPG forums and before that in the Warband cRPG section
My consistent slow progression in gold and xp since I started last September is testament of my fair play, while so many around me exploited game bugs to leapfrog advancement of their main character.

Please restore Blackstone, and let me once again be a contributing cRPG member.

I am unable to post in the essay section of these forums, and so I share mine with you here.

Gather round the fire brothers and sisters in arms,
and join this chant of understanding, as I ring the camp bells and alarms.

End of Summer is upon us, let us pause a moment with sheathed swords, let us roam,
reflect on battles I unfairly faught, as I invoked demons under my breath, shame on my lips began to form.

Through fire and and a lowered head I struggled alone with innermost fears,
have faith said the voice, for we are invincible in understanding, together, as prophesized by the seers.

Breath deeply, men and women in arms, and drink in the fullness of life,
let me be amongst you once again as a hardenned warrior, free to roam to take, or give life.

Onward we forge into the Fall, learned from the past and who we now are,
"cRPG Forever" we chant as thunder, as we annihilate the enemy wide and far!

Please restore Blackstone, and let me once again be a contributing cRPG member.

Overall well balanced.

Once stunned it is extremely difficult to counter the next consecutive blows, but overall the fights seem more balanced now.

...we calculated the bonus back with 10% and recalculated the new generation with 3%...all heirlooms were reset...heirlooms were recalculated on generation.

Balanced solution for everyone, and very much appreciated. Thank you.

Announcements / Re: Possible solution to future whine
« on: April 29, 2011, 06:35:55 pm »
My suggestion is that you do nothing chadz, and simply let people vent. The essence of therapy is to create space to allow others to work out their own issues.

By wiping out the database you are:
1. Allowing yourself to be influenced by those that whine (compare your database player numbers against the number who whine, to determine if they represent a minority or majority)
2. Not considering the silent population that accepts the changes made
3. Disregarding whatever efforts individuals made in the last year to customize their characters through retirements

If you decide to wipe the database for the present situation, then you will most likely do it in other situations, and this results in removing a huge incentive factor for players to customize their characters over time. If you want player engagement to this game, than I submit that wipes is not the solution.

agility has no observable impact on the time per attack for a weapon

Interesting post patch change. I wonder if an identical test with a 2-handed weapon would be comperable or not to polearm, thus clarifying if animation in fact changes weapon speed.

General Discussion / Re: Crush-Through on Bar Mace and Long Iron Mace
« on: February 23, 2011, 04:05:11 am »
In reading between the lines of this thread, I do not understand why having had a 1:3 heirloom respec in January matters in deciding to implement another heirloom respec in the next patch. This is supposed to be a fun game for everyone to play, and people are supposed to change their minds, playstyles, desires etc. This is not about control, or parents setting rules and children abiding by them, or learning lessons from lost opportunities or mistakes, or anything else. This is an online game to provide adults as well as children with fun, an escape from reality, an opportunity to bond with each other, and enjoy our lives just a little bit more. This is the point of Mods, and my understanding of cRPG, so why so much reluctance to make everyone happy? I honestly do not get it.

Allowing everyone to respect heirlooms 1:1 provides
  • Everyone who owns any heirloomed item being significantly changed with an exchange option so they do not feel they lost time
  • Provides opportunity for players to try different play styles without feeling they wasted time on previously heirloomed armor or weapons

For example, someone who invested heirlooms into heavy armor and plays heavy strength, can decide instead to play light armor with high agility without feeling they wasted time if they change play styles, or worse they decide not to change playstyle to avoid feeling they wasted time. Same applies to the Bar Mace, except that a core functionality of the Bar Mace is being removed.

Help me understand why the process of polishing an excellent game and maintaining integrity of balance is in contradiction to helping everyone feel happy? Character and heirloom respecs allow for all of this to occur all at once.

This thread, CMPXCHG8B, was started with the following statement. Would appreciate if you could address it.

Why take away a core function of the item, rather than re-balance the heirlooms to ensure that they don't get 90% crush-through

Suggestions Corner / Re: Remove ability of defenders to open gates

Unless I am mistakent, most Sally's take place by openning side and back doors, to prevent the doors from being chopped down quickly, and not coordinating with another team member at a tower to open the gate.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Re: Calculating Run Speed
« on: February 13, 2011, 11:02:38 pm »
I thought that this was also applicable to total weight (regardless of targeting effectiveness for bow or thrown weapons), so if the 2xhand and 3xhead armor is not applicable to calculating run speed, then you answered part of my question.

Suggestions Corner / Remove ability of defenders to open gates
« on: February 13, 2011, 10:54:53 pm »
Defenders should only be able to close gates, and attackers open them on siege maps. I cannot count the number of times a defending traitor coordinates with attackers to open a side or back gate early on, resulting in a flood of enemy at the flag while defenders are at the main points of defence, and the flag is lost. This really circumvents the strategic aspect of the match, and is no different in spirit than teamkilling.

I concede that on certain maps, such as Helms Deep, gate opening is adventagious in certain circumstances for defenders. However, in the majority of maps this is not the case, and if this is what it takes to prevent defending traitors to cicumvent honest competition by openning gates for the enemy, then I say so be it.

Beginner's Help and Guides / Calculating Run Speed
« on: February 13, 2011, 08:28:58 pm »
Hail,

Does anyone know what the post patch run speed calculation is?

Run speed = Athletics multiplied by ? minus Weight* multiplied by ?

* I understand that hand armor needs to be multiplied by 2, and head armor needs to be multiplied by 3 when calculating total weight, but I am not clear if weapon/shield weight is a factor when running empty handed?

Thanks in advance for the clarification.
