I have never played something like this but would like to give it a try.
So how would it work out timewise??
like one long day or a couple of hours a day for some weekends or ....
or is it roundbased, so everyone can do his thing whenever he finds the time during the day??

Definitely not round based. You will be in a chat room with the DM telling you what is happening, and you and everyone else tells him what you are doing, roleplay chat with other players, etc.

It's been too long since I have played an Actual D&D tabletop game.  I have been playing a bit with Arty and the other Dracul Nerds and it is fun.

Although, I just like the complexity of an actual D&D game (Not the mention the world)

The only thing that makes me a little sad is why you do not have 2nd Edition AD&D on your list.

I know it is fairly simple, but it is my favorite for that reason.

I am not fairly reliable due to my ever-changing schedule.  Although, I do wish I could play alone with you guys :)

That was actually the first system I ever played in, but man, that was so long ago I've completely forgotten it.

I have never played something like this but would like to give it a try.

I don't think we've actually discussed that yet, so here are our options.

A) use a virtual tabletop + teamspeak...each player will take turns talking about what they're doing and respond accordingly. They'll move character pieces on the map as needed.
B) Use Teamspeak with dice and just talk about it. For less tactical systems, this works.
C) use text and dice...each player writes a paragraph or so. This allows you to write something, go check on something you're doing irl, then come back. If you're semi-free all day, but still have minor stuff to do around the house, it's nice.
D) use a multi-user-shared-hallucination type thing. Kinda complicated for those unfamiliar with text based environments online.

Option A is most similar to the traditional way these games are played- with a bunch of people sitting around a table with an erasable map, dice, and figurines/lego pieces/stones/coins/whatever.  These sessions typically take three to five hours.

Please tell me what system/setting you'd like! We haven't decided that part yet.

Star Wars Setting

Evil Themed Group

IC Text.

I can work around anything with the first two in terms of campaign and morality of the team, but I'm not e-rping with you through vocals on team-speak. I have standards you know.

edit: If I had one setting I wouldn't want it'd be A Song of Ice and Fire.

I've been keenly interested about this sort of thing ever since those multiple nights I'd creep in on the Dark Heresy campaign Grey was running in chaosland; I unfortunately don't have the spacetime or inclination to allot timespace to be a part of this sort of thing on a regular/weekly basis at present. I'm totally without experience, so I guess RISUS would be my best bet for both that and for my schedule constraints.
You think you're pretty smart with your dago mustache and your greasy hair.

You should try and find a time-space! Skipping a week here and there is something that happens within most campaigns anyway.

I can make myself available for Saturday and/or Sunday nights if the schedule will be regular. I'd love to have some tabletop fun with you guys. Labyrinth Lord is a clone of older D&D lines. You can get the manual in PDF form for free, legally. Pretty much all of the old TSR modules and monster manuals etc. will fit into the system if you want to use them. I love playing old modules arcade style (you get a few "extra lives" instead of rolling a new character when you die - because you will). The battles can be close matched or outrageously unbalanced for either side, some of the traps and riddles defy logic (and are great for out of character laughs if you have played D&D before). The premade modules usually have a fleshed out world that makes it easy for the DM to build upon "on the fly" if needed.

It's a lot of fun for a lighter, not so serious game. I wasn't there for your previous sessions but it sounds like this might be up your alley.

No matter the system, I'll dip my head in and play for a little at least.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far
