Actually, just let me talk for a while. Here sit down and listen to some soothing smooth jazz:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M4xy-wxc1Y0

I forgot how much caffine is in soda, since I don't really drink it that often. As i was tossing and turning in a vain effort to salvage some sleep I had a no doubt unoriginal idea:

So hows about as a boost to character customization, and a reason to keep on leveling and grinding we introduce armor and gear that is not really better, just showy and neat as a way to say, hey, I am badass and have a level 500 golden suit of bling.

***note***
Gear does not have to be silly, just unique

It could really spice things up if some stuff was "rare". I have no idea how this would work with the current system, but I think it would really make my day if I knew my grindings were to be rewarded with a +1 head-of-donkey-helmet.

Maybe players could trade in 3 masterworks for a rising sun kamikaze bandanna, or a bronze hoplon shield I dunno, look at tf3 as proof that players love to wear jewelry.

Its great , genius even, since it will not effect balance at all, in fact if it gets rid of masterworks as people trade them in, it actually would improve it.

 Behold! science!

Rather have the option to name (w)horses, weapons and shields. But I guess that would require a lot of work.

This sounds like a rather nice idea. Shazmanoo
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

This wont work. unlike team fortress, warband 'hats' come with head armor and cant scale with your level.

Yes !!!

But I would hate silly hats in cRPG. There are enough of them already. Other cosmetic options would be nicer (naming, retexturing for heirloomed gear...)

Agreed, I just used the silly hats as an example of a game that has done something similar with good results.

I like this idea, would keep the grinders interested and rewarded. It would also be cool with "magical neclasses" that work as a heavy weighing helmet protecting you and all, but it looks like you're helmetless.

An other thing, slightly about the grinding, I think repairing should only be on armor, since now only the grinders who have loads of money can afford to use decent weapons (atleast when it comes to xbows). The best weapons in the game arent that OP that they should be very very expensive to keep using.
