As far as I understand, Mumble is an open-source Voip application that is scriptable.

The idea is that one could use this to talk to each other, automatically joining you current Team's channel. Mumble also supports position based technology, so you would only hear people that are close to you. IDK if the last, or even the first one is possible though.

If one could send the players in team-list to a mumble server, one could script the server to sort all those members into group A, and the others to group B.
That is the very basic and simple approach. If one could also extract positioning of players data and send and adapt that to Mumble we could speak to whomever we meet on the field.

The next step is to have a commander election system, where commanders get priority speaker and longer range voice..

I know this sounds very ambitious, but we all know what chadz is like, the bigger the better!

Note that this suggestion comes from someone who has absolutely no idea about programming or how cRPG is made etc.. If this is indeed impossible, then come forth and tell us devs!

Now how would it be to have everyone speaking at the same time? Tiring? Probably. Fun? Probably. RP? maybe. It would change the whole game experience for sure. On NA it would be terrible, people would play back porn sounds and extremely annoying music while fighting. But on EU I think it could be possible.

I suggested this awhile ago.  Its not anywhere near as much work as it sounds like, all the codings already been done.  Just need a few hours of implementation and testing

Personally, I'd prefer this for a PW mod -esque game mode and would probably turn it off in battle.

I have suggested this a while back and it would be absolutely epic.  +1!!!!!11one  from me.

Yeah, just judging from your usual EU screenshots and my experience, it would be filled with people insulting each other in another language...

Both sides have equal amounts of idiots. What are you basing your NA theory on exactly?
I'm not normal and I don't pretend so, my approach is pretty much a bomb crescendo.
Death is a fun way to pass the time though, several little bullets moving in staccato.
The terror of my reign will live on in infamy, singing when they die like a dead man's symphony.

well duh give any in-game admin on the mumble server.

writing and enforcing a code of conduct is not hard, not to mention you can mute anyone locally you wish to.

Mumble may even have plugins/mods to allow poll voting to mute/kick obnoxious ppl

Also if you could make it so that dead people cant talk to living and with proper mute and flood protection I'd be all for it. We all know how some (not me) like to sing to TS when they're drunk etc.

you've never played on a well run Natural Selection, Empires Mod, Day of Defeat or TeamFortress server then

they'd be half the games they were without voice comms

Most people dont try to find a good well run and admin'ed community servers.  They make all the difference.


Back to the point, could this be field tested on one of the servers to see how it goes?

Although their is as much idiot on each side the culture is very different.

i lived both is US(3 years) and Europe, i never saw in europe any kid trashing is parent in a supermarket because he didn't got what he wanted, while it happened all the time in US.
In us you're told since you're a little kid the best country in the world (under god) best army, best everything ...   (except smaller average  penis size  :lol: but they don t tell you that at school)

Us folk are very expressive and sure of their rightfulness and it's not necessarily a bad thing .
Like when an American go on holidays in a different country ( i know it does not happen a lot  :mrgreen:)  he expect people to speak english and adapt to them which is very  arrogant and ego centric.

Another example why so much fatso in US and way less in Europe ?
