I'm hate hate HATE glancing, and with 5 ps it's going to be a very real possibility against heavy armor with cut damage. Looking at your build from my perspective, I think you have a few options. I ordered these from my best to worst, but keep in mind preference and playstyle might make you value these differently.
- Blunt damage: Warhammer (or Iberian Mace for style points). Crap range, but won't glance and will do work. Will also knockdown surprisingly often. As a bonus they look pretty cool, but if you aren't used to the short reach you'll need to practice keeping people in range and knowing your limits.
-Pure Pierce damage: steel/military pick for weapon. Same pros and cons as above basically. Personally I think they are garbage in the looks department, but some people find them more difficult to block due to their size, so you might end up landing more hits with these. Still pretty cookie cutter.
-Heavy cut damage: Various axes/ Military Cleaver / Grosse Messer. A bit more range than the options above and the high cut damage should help you avoid glancing. As a bonus you'll beat down agi builds in light armor with the high cut. Using an axe would be my first choice in this group, since you'll end up breaking enemy shields quicker than they'll take down your 7 skill point shield as an added benefit. Against heavy armor you'll probably have to hit them a bunch of times however, so be ready for some endurance fights.
-Piercing swords: Long Espada Eslavona/Side sword/Espada Eslavona. Not my playstyle, but if you do a lot of thrust attacks these might be good options. The long espada eslavona has the benefit of reach which you'll be able to take advantage of with your 7 athletics. Keep in mind these will glance on heavy armor with side swings especially if you aren't in the correct position.
Armor is harder to recommend because there are so many different possible styles. A rule of thumb that I follow is the higher your HP, the heavier armor you wear. It might seem counter-intuitive at first, but the way I see it is if you have low hp you're going to be 2 shot most of the time anyways so you might as well maximize the speed advantage you have and only wear light stuff. In the meantime, the more hp you have the more chances you give your armor to absorb blows, and surviving 2-3 hits in light armor will then translate into surviving 3-5,6 hits in heavy stuff.
I'm no expert on crossbows, but I like the light crossbow myself to use as a supplement. Just keep in mind you'll probably be most effective with your sword and your athletics and high shield, while spending a bunch of time shooting and reloading will open you up to being picked off by range.
