While I enjoy a good Jona post, I doubt the mod died because of Tydues or balancing(or lack thereof) The mod died because it was a niche mod and its playerbase got old and lame. It was like the same ~200 people everyday and here we are like 10 years later trying to figure out where it all went wrong.

Mod died because the admins and staff were getting too serious with the mod and removed fun stuff like ladders, ladderpulting, removed the grind and true RPG features plus the introduction of upkeep. Small things here and there basically.

It just snowballed from there. Every patch made it seemingly worse.

Didn't help either that the moderators/admins were cracking down hard on people who just wanted to have fun like us LLJKers or other lighthearted troll-ish players with crazy builds too.

Everyone has his own explanation based mostly on his personal experience for the downfall of crpg. There is truth in what you say but those are certainly not the only reasons. In my book the most important factor was the inability to bind larger amounts of new players to the mod. This again has probably a great deal to do with the perception of going against vet-players with a seemingly uncatchable headstart of looms and money.

Agreed. The question remains though, why there are still full servers in native with so many frustrating mechanics (archers, horse-bumps, endless etc.) that are simply improved in crpg. plus the whole rpg-thing, which many people love.

I can never compare this mod's population to the base game because any random chimp can buy mount and blade and/or napoleonic war to hop online and play for a bit, but it takes a special type of autismo chimp to go searching for and install a random mod. the total pool of possible chimps goes down significantly. Mercs, full invasion, and PW are mods so comparing those population numbers to crpg makes more sense.

I'm only able to base it off my own experience, but being a low level noob was insanely fun. Stacked odds got my dick hard as diamonds. Different mods are for different folks. I would never play full invasion or PW, but a lot of people like that gameplay which I find numbing and boring.
