The music and AESTHETICS alone make this game great.

Also for the ppl not getting the "dark souls" reference, it's because of a games journalist who got universally made fun of for failing terribly at the tutorial level of the game during some game expo. E3 maybe? Not sure.

I just found out about that journalist thing, what a disaster. Most people probably already knew journalism is just horrible, but that piece really just blew my mind. Especially when other journalists start defending the guy failing to beat the tutorial level.

I honestly dont know who even reads video game articles etc, they almost always a waste of time.

he played it at the 2017 gamescom booth, which I did aswell this year

the thing is that right beside of it there was a HUGE XBox X stage, which means that your ears got blasted with some "trendy" trash pop music (they brought up some people onto the stage to let them "dance" (in other words, humiliate themself in public) for some goodies or something). Even with the headsets you did NOT hear the ingame music or any kind of audio feedback which was kind of distracting, the flashy lights of that stage didn't help aswell. Ofc that journalist's performance is utter shit, but I think it's more of a series of circumstances which lead to this
- he probs was overly tired
- not his genre or barely played jump'n'runs
- distracting environment as told
- clearly not his day in general

he didn't even defend it or anything, he admitted that he sucks at that game, so give him run

Platformers are my jam but I'm considering refunding it after playing a little over an hour. The profile select screen tells me I'm halfway through the game and I'm sure this will be on sale in ~6 months.

Little over an hour? I think its like 4-5 hours if you really blast through it. Worth the money for the OST and for the design tho, i'd never take back my money for a sale on this gem.

That's just what the game itself told me. I briefly nosed around how many areas there were and heard it was four but I'm sure the difficulty ramps up after the second. It's a well made game and the music is also my jam but I wasn't aware it was going to be more of a boss rush sort of style, tuned 2 minute stages, rather than a straight up platformer.

I think you're playing it too much. I try to do like one challange with the best score I can every few days and it's a blast.
