Hardcore Henry Trailer
Diving right in from the opening credits this movie was a self-indulgent, disgusting, nausea inducing, violent, sexist, erratic, threadbare plot that yet manages to be overly complex and confusing if you bothered to even try to follow it. That opening sequence during the credits was a slow mo ode to the many forms of violence that may be perpetrated upon the human flesh. A veritable orgy of death in a near pornographic manner. That the film itself continued to explore new and surprising ways to add to the collection is a testament to the depravity of the individuals who created this work that left the theater smelling of the piss from the previous crowd exposed to its carnage.
Sharlto Copley's appearance is a cruel trick played on the audience as a known actor who you feel can anchor your place in this crazy film but he ends up spinning you further from a comfort zone than any other actor in the film. The one exception may be Danila Koslovsky (a guy) with his Kurt Cobaine-look and chalk board screeching presence as the main villain.
This film was made primarily for one group of people. Anyone who has played the first person shooter and action games from the last twenty years who enjoyed them as well as the cut scenes that added to the atmosphere like the memorable ones beginning with Call of Duty 4. If that is you, then you may enjoy this movie as much as I and my daughter did (she's 20 and an FPS fangoil). Really, it was cool. Ignore the 50% rotten tomato ratings and other negative reviews from people who just didn't get it.
They have never walked away from the keyboard feeling that intense exhilaration and strange kind of exhaustion after an really good intense gaming session. This movie leaves you feeling that feeling without a mouse and keyboard in your hand.
I give it a 7 barrel with x3 ammo gun salute.
