Moderate rich, kinda big, desperately trying to become modern but still worshiping the man who died decades ago. Made a law against insulting him, something that is unheard in modern democratic societies Turkey wants to become.

I know this kind of sounds ridiculous and fanatical, but you need to spend some time here in order to understand what he means to us. He rose up, took the reins and liberated a country that was super-duper fucked and surrendered over to the entente powers by the remnants of the Ottoman palace. There were Muslim clerics all around the country cursing those who resist the invasion, and advising militants to surrender.
He knew far ahead of time that Muslim fanatics were going to cause the demise of the nation he liberated. And he made a fundamentally radical move and turned the country's face to the west, despite all the opposition, for the sake of not letting Turkey become another Middle Eastern shithole. His legacy and unbroken memory have been what kept us alive all this time.
Just look at what is happening in Turkey now. It is all because those fanatic swines, who hated his efforts to save Turkey, woke up from their hibernation and are doing their best to demolish what he has built.
Yeah, I know that all this glorified discourse I use still makes it look like looney fanaticism. But it is far more than that. It is Turkey's neverending fight against Islamic fanatics, and our longing for another great leader like him. Because we are far outnumbered by the retarded ones.
