Ticks, what's the use of this? I can't find the correct translation.

2 ticks are used every hour automatically as long as you have enough.

If you set your troop cap high then every hour those 2 ticks are converted into a troop and increases the size of your army.

If you are at your troop cap then you make a small amount of silver instead each hour.

Sorry if it's been answered already but:

How to join a faction? I have just blank page when I click it in strat.

You need a faction link, when you press it, it will take you to a blank page with a number. That means your request to join has been sent and has to be accepted by someone in the Faction.
