I always read "escape from Turkey"
Yes, I know from whence I came! Discontented as a flame, Upon myself I live and glow. All I grasp like lightning flashes, All I leave behind is ashes
Flame I am - that much I know!

I dunno, the shotgun sounds like a muffled canon and the pistol is eerily similar to a kind of firecracker they sell in my town.

Makes you wonder what the DayZ team has been doing for 4 years when their competition makes entire games in the time frame it takes them to add a blue version of a red jacket.

I do understand that DayZ team has to fight with an old, buggy engine that isn't built for a zombie game, but they're still ultra-slow and I have a hard time believing that they're doing all they can anymore. They did put out a patch recently that significantly increased performance, have to congratulate them on that because the performance increase really is good (usually when devs talk about performance increase it's minor changes), however the game is still so far off from being finished. Eternal alpha and all that.

They got plenty of money from people buying alpha, especially because the game was practically advertised with all the giveaway streams done by random Twitch people. They probably realised that they already earned most of the potential money from DayZ, and continued work would be much less profitable. They sold over 3 million copies at the beginning of 2015, and the count is still rising. After finishing the game they'd sell maybe another 500k, but they'd have to put a lot of work into it. The ratio of money/work is simply too low for them to bother.

Increased performance how? I don't even care about the FPS, I care that it's laggy as fuck network-wise. Last time I installed it to check out the changes, I quit after 15 minutes when people were teleporting around and not dying when I'd hit them seven times with an axe (and oh god the melee is crappy mod level in the game as well).

Graphical/machine performance (frames per second, etc). I don't think there have been any network/latency improvements lately and afaik there's still desync issues, though I haven't experienced them

It's a shame, though, DayZ in concept is great. Though it looks like Tarkov just may fill the void.
