Just started rewatching the Wire after I watched it about 7 years ago. Man there is really nothing like it. I mean I understand that some don't get what's so fucking great about it, but I just love it and nothing get's even close. The amount of detail and realism is insane, combined with great characters and a fascinating plot. And it is really great to watch a second time, there is so much going on in each episode you only fully comprehend after you know what will come.
And in general for example Breaking Bad had better fictional drama and action for sure, Sopranos had great characters too, but none gave you even close understanding of the whole mechanics and systems, how dealing drugs actually works, how they do police work (
), how politics work heck the whole city. And even if I hope it is mostly not that bad around here you can learn a lot about how fucked up bureaucracy, politics, education and economics are at times in our western free world.
I really hope the Deuce will be great. Never watched Treme, the topic just sounds so boring to me and I have no connection to jazz or New Orleans at all. But fuck me, I just found out about this:
http://www.imdb.com/title/tt2492296/?ref_=nm_flmg_wr_2. Oscar Isaac is a genius, will check that out.
