1. Naw
2. 3. It's lighter than previous Windows versions
4. No, unless you meet these requirements: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-my/windows-10/cortana-is-not-available-in-your-region-or-language

No need.

As Molly posted earlier:
http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows10

Can just download that. No need for the flashdrive either. I just downloaded, ran the update and it did it.

So I just tried this and all it does is tell me "Something happened." and that's it

Does it do it around the tech check stage?

Change your systems region language to the US. The same thing happened to me and that fixed it.

can you connect to wifi? is your adapter turned on and properly configured? have you updated drivers?

Wifi and ethernet works on everything but my pc. When i manually input the ip and gateway it identifies the internet and says its connect ed but still doesnt work.
Pretty sure the drivers are updated, cant update them now anyways without internet..

The only thing that does annoy me is not having a 'My Computer' and 'Control Panel' in the start menu. I've changed that now by pinning them there though but the search wasn't originally working so was a pain in the arse to get to the control panel every time.

If you right click on the start menu you'll get control panel, file explorer and other handy shortcuts. Right click on start menu more useful than left click =P

I had some issues with the upgrade, but all good after a clean install (had to upgrade first to get the 10 license key)

The question is what do I gain by overwriting Windows 7 with Windows 10?

Shiiiit... The new Mahjong is... a bit addictive... Got bronze through daily challenges in an hour. I'm afraid to upgrade my parents PC to 10 now. Mom is addicted to Win7 Mahjong as it is

Damn you.

After I saw this I gave it a go and ended up playing it for an hour.

Similar situation with Solitaire.

Sorry for chainposting.

Might be a DNS problem then. When you manually configure an IP, use 8.8.8.8 and 8.8.4.4 as DNS, those are from Google.

Yeah pain in the arse cause it has to redownload the whole thing again.

I've just pinned them to the start menu now. Didn't like them not being right there and not a fan of the file explorer way of doing things  :)
