I would go with a roguelike, my favorite is Dungeon Crawl Stone Soup. The fact that it's turn-based means you can look up from the screen if you need to without pausing/dieing, and you won't be clicking and mashing keys frantically during hard parts.
Also, Yume Nikki. It's made in RPGmaker, but isn't an RPG. It's just weird dream exploration. Strange enough that anyone who sees you playing might ask WTF it is, but not strange enough that they would think you are a weirdo.
