Yep im also using bitdefender and it blocked the wse2 update/server connection but i was able to make an exception but only worked for once :/

I had the same problem, sucks to know it's Bitdefender blocking. As much I love their databases and small resource footprint, their lack of customization options really irks me.

I have been trying out Qihoo 360 for some customers of mine and despite the company's main revenue coming from advertisements (and all apparently in China), it seems to be a great free solution. In full security mode, it will also use Bitdefender and Avira's engines for scans.

I still recommend buying Kaspersky Internet Security for anyone willing to pay, though.

Thanks for the info, i changed BitDefender to that 360 total security. Atleast im now able to use wse2 w/o offline mode, hope the game will feel better again. So far it seems to be working nicely, and u can modify alot of setting compared to BitDefender.

Small update:

Decided to test connection with Bitdefender Internet Security 2015. Connection to http://dl.dropbox.com/ from an application outside the web browser was blocked, although it now shows a log of what was blocked and you can add URLs to a whitelist.

Ok, I got bitdefender too- so what's the URL to whitelist?  The above ones are all 404ish.
