Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -4.38
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.28

I don't know what category of political of person it makes me, to be too lazy to print the image and instead just gives the number.
And i do consider myself more right than left, but thoses questions were really... formulmated in such a way with "big corporation" and the like, that i just became a left economic man.

I'm also surprised at the social libertarian, feeling more authoritarian (specifically about the death sentence and the uselessness of tryting to rehabilitate some of the criminals). But again, some pretty obvious liberal questions where you just can't go full authoritarian makes me a social libertarian.

So overall, this test gives pretty inaccurate results.

Like I said, the test makes almost all economic questions about big corporations and almost all lib/auth questions about security and bigotry. A lot of strawmen and only a few really interesting questions. I consider myself a neo-liberal economist kind of guy but that isn't reflected in the test because it keeps asking the wrong questions.

Let's make this more interesting by looking at individual questions. What did you guys answer to "It's a sad reflection on our society that something as basic as drinking water is now a bottled, branded consumer product." ? I answered that I don't agree because I buy food, so why should I not buy water? While it's true that in many real cases today, running water is being managed horribly by private companies due to retarded leasing conditions by lazy local powers, bottled water really is a free market and works quite well. It does make a lot of sense to avoid bottled water due to ecological and economical concerns though.

It's always good to have choices such as buying clean and bottled water. On the other hand, it is quite sad that we have to buy bottled water so that we can safely drink it. In my childhood, about let's say 20 years ago, paying for water was a fundamentally retarded idea, because the tap water was clean as hell and local as well as central governments cared about keeping it that way. You could simply get yourself a glass of water from any tap in sight and you wouldn't have to worry about it one bit.

Nowadays, what used to be perceived as a basic human right (having access to potable water) has become something to sell and I can't for the life of me acknowledge this horrible truth. Terrible management of water has caused groundwater to go deeper and unreachable, while we are hearing news stories about the capital of my country getting tap water as dirty as sewage. Even in my relatively untouched and remote hometown, water shortages keep occurring frequently and the water isn't clean anymore. Also in the same place, you can see water bottling firms placing "Not potable, contains bacteria" signposts at natural spring water sources, because the buggers want people to keep away from them so that they can use them for their own good when necessary (I got lab results, the water is totally clean at said points).

Even in a water-rich country like Turkey, this has happened. Hundreds of small streams were leased to private firms (multinational and local) for as long periods as 50 years. I am waiting for the times they will sell us our own water when things get a lot uglier.

Yeah, I know this has turned into a wall of text, but I am deeply troubled with this water issue. Water should never be a commodity. It should be managed properly and delivered to beneficiaries in clean and potable form. It was possible in the past. Why can't it be now?

buying bottled water to me should be viewed like a convenience or luxury, someone had to pump it out of the ground, cleanse it for you, bottle it, and ship it to you.  If you dont want to pay for the service, then fucking do it yourself.  If this is too much to ask, well then i dont know what to tell you, be a leech and go to a mcdonalds and sip from the bathroom sinks...

Most homes either have their own wells, which are cheap, or you have local water pumped from aquifers.  My water bill for a month is only 15 dollars so.......

Now if we are talking about countries which are less then privileged, i guess my point is rather moot.  I can honestly only share an opinion from somewhere where every residence and structure has access to completely clean water, and therefore bottled water is what it is, a convenience.

Basically we are saying the same thing. Let there be bottled water for convenience and for those who would like to have that convenience, but let's prevent water from being a total commercial commodity. That is my opinion in a nutshell.

Pretty boring and as expected, i know :s

I like this discussion quite alot that spawned from this pretty silly test ;)

Bottled water, well ... sure its a sad reflection of current society, compared to an ecological ideal situation ... yet, on the other hand, giving water a nice price tag, makes it appear to be worth more than it is/was percieved until now ... so .. im all in favor to make really expensive water bottles .. and alot of it and restrict free water use ... good way to make people not take everything for granted ;)

I'm not convinced the people who buy bottled water aren't simply buying it instead of some other bottled drink. In that case I don't really see much harm done. People that buy bottled water for use at home though are probably just a drain on the environment

Well, I buy sometime water bottles when its acidity is close to rain water (pH=6), few minerals and no Chlorine, no Nitrate. Some spring waters are like this.
Ok it's not ecologicaly correct, but it's healthier (for me).
In my new house I have a well now. So, fuck you all.

Cost of new filters over here is slightly more per month than bottled water if the household is drinking at least 1 gallon/day. However, it's still convenience that's the driving factor, like anything else to do with the environment.
