They dunno, but they think it might be through eating a certain kind of Bat, or handling gorilla/ape carcasses.

Well cmp is quite right. The few cases of Ebola in our little Western paradise island has been doctors and medical staff who came back from Africa. Not even tourists(yet), but actual people knowingly close in contact with it, so chill out(for now).

I occasionally screen people for clinical treatment. Last week, these guys come in with cold symptoms. One of them says 'I think I have ebola' and the others start demanding masks. Good god, people, educate yourselves.

Oh god I missed the plus sign twice out of laughter.

so chill out(for now).

lol

Is anyone truly panicking?

Just because 3-4000 people died from Ebola in Africa in last 10 months? Malaria kills 600000 people in Africa per year...

Ebola needs to obtain aerial transmission perk to become serious threat. That never happened.

Ebola is to weak.
What we need is a virus that eliminates half of the worlds population.

Exactly! Ebola boring, I want sth like in The Happening movie, suicidies, panic and stuff. That would be cool

TBH the slow, painful deaths are more terrifying than any movie depiction

Also, lol at recent CDC remarks.  "Airborne Ebola possible but unlikely"  Viruses mutate and adapt, no matter how much the 'murican retards at the CDC want to say otherwise.  This is a country that deploys 4000 soldiers to "combat Ebola".  Can't wait until they come back after direct exposure.

Random is random. Air transmission requires many specific consecutive mutations, which is unlikely. And even if one of the viruses does develop that, more than 99.9% of the others won't.

Yes, virus mutate, evolve and adapt but there is no recorded case where a previously non-airborne deadly virus like Ebola evolved into airborne virus. If that happens, that would be the first time in history. This is very similar to black hole scare when Cern accelerator started working. If it was that easy to create a black hole with such small amount of energy, earth would be sucked into a black hole billions of years ago. Same goes for viruses, they adapt but they don't adapt that fast and so drastic to wipe out every animal on planet earth.

Actually wiping out every animal on planet earth would be a horrible trait for any virus because the virus would die by a lack of hosts.

The thing that needs to be understood is that death and other unpleasant symptoms caused by viruses are usually strategies to transit from one host to another, or just side-effects of one of these strategies. For instance, treating ebola patients requires extreme care precisely because ebola "targets" people taking care of the sick by transmitting through contact and fluids. There are much "better" viruses around that infect people and transmit to other people without killing them, which is a much better way to survive for the virus. Deadly viruses tend to disappear both because dead people do not spread the virus and the human potential hosts avoid the virus much more fiercely, fighting it with quarantine and medicine.
