Personally, I have no idea which map this one is from that one pic alone.

This is one of the first maps I played when I started cRPG in 2011. Offense has to push siege ramp to start, but after that it's just a bloodbath at the top of the siege ramp. Once the defense is broken at the first choke point on top of the siege ramp, then it breaks into sporadic fights all over the wall and near flag. It's not an objectively good map (too small and straightforward), but I have lots of good memories of it! It actually makes me kinda sad and nostalgic, because I remember how we used to have 80+ people playing, and almost all of those folks have since quit cRPG. The first time I killed Balbaroth in 1v1 was right on top of the nearest tower, with a pure luck GLB chamber...good times.

Dafuq do you want me to do else than follow the outcome of this thread?

NA Scene Manager won't happen, simply because in all this time of QQ noone was arsed to actually apply for it. This thread here is the first time someone actually managed to get something organized.
If you find me someone who has a knowledge about Scene Editing, who is willing to implement the maps to the code and who gets approved by the NA admins, i'll gladly fill him in so he can act on his own about the NA rotations.

Please excuse Sparvico, he is special at times. The rest of NA already knows the purpose of this thread, and while I was intrigued to see Jona still request a map-revert/change for Citadel, it was worth a shot. We knew before this thread was started you said no map changes of any kind, just cut or keep.

@Sparvico, mofucka, shut up! He is helping us and taking the time to at least let us set our own custom rotation--something that has never happened as far as I can remember. Don't blow this for us. We've got it covered, just cast your vote and sit back bud, this won't take much longer.

For the record I have no problem with most of the things Fips has done, nor was I under the impression this thread was for anything other than map voting, I was simply pointing out that trying to fix siege is a losing battle, because a) even if we manage it the result will simply be a dead battle server (which I personally am fine with) and b) the main problem is the communities mindset, not necessarily any maps. Siege has simply never been more popular than battle in NA.

Most of what I put in my post was either ignored outright, or blanketed over with the "lol ur idiot" response.

The bit about the NA scene editor was more of an aside, as I am well aware how no one in NA wants to do it, though it would be the best solution.

@Tanken. He's helping us set up our own rotation for the first time because we finally stepped up and got our shit together a little bit. I am very thankful that he is still willing to do it after all this time.

And different people have different playstyles.  How are you to know the population wont grow if there is a constant and reliable siege server up?  How many people have quit playing the mod due to frustration with s-key hero, HA & cav rape on battle?  How many have quit do to lack of teamwork by clans or an objective to accomplish?

Ah, yes, outside of ancient history siege has never been more popular than battle. And i think that with a reliable and enjoyable rotation NA siege could bounce back, but it will come at the cost of battle (which I am fine with) and that is an extreme uphill battle giving the communities current mindset. As to the people that have left because of how bad battle is compared to siege, why did they stop playing siege in the first place?

Jona, this is beautiful.  Thanks for putting it all together, I know it took some work.  Thanks to Fips for lending his ear as well.

I'm looking forward to getting a couple of those great oldies back in rotation!

should we call the vote complete come the end of this week? Or until X number of total voters have voted?

I keep asking you guys for what you think we should do... get no responses.  :P

I think we should tally the votes come friday, see where we are at, and take action from there. If we think we need more votes, we can wait a little bit. Any idea what a good number for total voters should be? We currently have roughly 15 or so. I was hoping for at least 25... 30 would be ideal. As for how we interpret them... I think maybe anything that is neutral will stay as-is. Anything with many in favor will get done, anything with many against will not get done. Something that is +/- 1 or 2 votes we might want to put up for a re-do (although realistically we can't really expect any different results). Perhaps if we have a few maps that are on the border of removal/addition we can have people write persuassive essays to try and win over those on the other side, haha.

I think the first priority is to get the list of the maps with near-unanimous add/remove support to Fips ASAP, then we can debate the marginal maps after some time with the cleaned rotation. Some of the maps I barely downvoted may not seem so bad when they are sandwiched between two great maps in the rotation, for instance.

This seems like a good course.  Get the obvious deletions (and additions!) out of the way.

After that, maybe we can go with the votes that have a 2/3 majority, or debate the rest.

I voted to remove alot of the maps we already have. We should add all the new maps so we can at least play them.

Also threshold to remove map should be 10 votes?
