Friend told me to watch this show Re:Zero. I finished catching up to the season as it's still airing. I am in love with the concept, but the main character is so awful in so many respects. Every few episodes he almost manages to win me over just to go back into full cringe mode again. The plot is really slow at certain points, but shit comes out of no where to bait you further along in a masterful way. Right now it's on episode 15 and it seems to be part of the popular light novels into anime. Honestly it's kind of like Overlord except the plot does go somewhere at some point, although I have no clue where it's going. I'm hooked at this point though and I'm probably gonna finish it through.
Show description with small spoilers:
For those of you who don't know what it is. The basic concept is this cringy sorta neet guy gets transfered to a fantasy world. He meets some characters and intentionally drags himself into the going ons in this certain part of the world. In doing so he ends up dying from time to time, but when ever he dies he comes back to life at a sort of spawn point. Although he's a neet and has an insufferable personality, he's actually in shape, although he's a bit slow and he drags his feet a lot when it comes to plot stuff. Over all I'm really excited for the series and it has really dragged me into it. I had to force myself into it through the first episode until the first twist goes off for like a minute and then are you back to the slowness of it.
If you plan on watching it be ready to wait for the interesting parts, they are just around the corner, but the show can really drag it's feet. That said it's probably the best show I've seen in a while, I don't have much love for the latest anime, but this one really does well in separating itself from the rest in certain ways. Even though the characters seem a bit overly cliche at points.
