I work for a canadian company but we are mainly in europe. as a result half of the nuts and bolts and threads are imperial and the other half is metric.
It is simply disgusting. and then you always find an idiot who forces a metric bolt into an imperial thread.
But not only this. you get your screwgun ready with a phillips bit to dismantle some woodwork and then you suddenly realize they used Robertson screws.
What the fuck!! robertson is crap why are they still in use in NA?

i wasnt aware of metric screws, only bolts, or maybe im reading this wrong.  Anyways, i have tools for both metric and imperial, of which my car is metric(mitsubishi) yet my truck and other household appliances use imperial.  I prefer the metric tools really, easier to understand that a 18mm is bigger then 19mm, yet telling someone to pass a 3/4 spanner or saying "i need something bigger" turns into a task of me comparing the diameter of the tool rather then looking at the label.  Tell a friend to get you a 13/16 socket without looking at the label and see how puzzled they are.

EDIT:oh, just googled it to see what a robertson screw was, had no idea the square topped had a name, have tools for that too lol.  Do you use the star topped one in EU? idk what in the hell its called.

Double Edit: called a Torx screw, i gues that a universal one, considering its used on pc parts and what not.

It's funny but some of what Anders says is true. The company I work for makes telecommunications antennas and filters and all of our engineering drawings use imperial measurements (I live in Canada). When I asked why we use this, as mentioned, collection of random measurements I learned that the company was founded by an American 65 years ago and to convert our thousands of drawings into metric is unfeasible. It's particularly funny because our current engineers are mainly Chinese immigrants who are trained to use metric and they absolutely hate with a passion how they have to make measurements in fractions of an inch as opposed to using millimetres.

Tl;dr imperial sucks collosal dick.
HF antennas/filters? That's voodoo and disgusting in its own right :P
But yea, I can totally understand why they might hate it.

There are a lot motorbikes using imperial. Well, a lot means mostly Harley and Triumph :D
But you come across imperial screws/threads, they are uncommon in Europe but not unheard of.
When west germany annexed east germany, nobody moved a finger too.

Except that USA is mostly mix of great number of states, cultures and people.

And united states have 323, WHILE UK alone, being relatively small in comparsion has 117 ALONE, followed closely by germany and france.

Try to compare a state with greatest number of nobel prizes in US and a state with greatest number of nobel prizes on one state in EU.

And honestly now, just because your ancestors have invaded a land of great wealth and murdered and enslaved its population, thus having far greater ammount of resources does not mean you are any more clever or batter than the rest of the world.

EDIT: And yeah, there would be no america as we know it today without europe, do not forget that

How many cubic inches is a gallon? How much does a gallon of water weight in lbs when it has its highest density(40 °F)?

One liter is 1000 cm^3 and a liter of water weights about 1 kg. Makes shit easy. I pity American engineers with their cripple units. Metric system masterrace. Ordnung muss sein.

And you can't even unfuck Crpg with the mighty metric system.  I pity you.

TIL american engineers can only handle integers.

I admit, I had my suspicions.

How did they ever reach the moon?  The landing must have been faked after all.

Yeah, so?

And united states have 323, WHILE UK alone, being relatively small in comparsion has 117 ALONE, followed closely by germany and france.

It's one country, not 50.  Are you trying to say to compare noble prizes won by Californians with those won by Britons?

And honestly now, just because your ancestors have invaded a land of great wealth and murdered and enslaved its population, thus having far greater ammount of resources does not mean you are any more clever or batter than the rest of the world.
You are on thin ice here debate wise.  Name one country in the world where this has not happened.
