Honestly that is a matter of opinion. I find getting hiltslashed by gaysword or gayhander considerably more gay that getting shot by any crossbow.
stone, scissor, paper... and xbow.
no skill points needed. you shoot through shields regardless of shieldskill. the sheer damage / weight (slots). you can have both a gaysword or gayhander AND an xbow...
IMVHO 2h and slash polearms are duel weapons, not battle weapons. thats how it is in the great Sniger army: shielders, archers/throwers, melee tank cav. all polearms is pikes or long spears to back up the shielders. very few 2handers and slashing polearms because i CBA to have these ones in my great army because they will be pinned down (death to arrow) or hide and be useless first half of the battle where they are most important.
