Not very often, because like I said, those are childish. There's a reason why "pure good" superheroes are marketed only to children. Adults generally don't want unrealistic naïve heroes. "Pure good" doesn't exist.

This such an antiquated and retarded argument. The Joker is one of the most popular and successful villains of all time and yet what is his moral dilemma or motivation? None. He's pure evil. Pure chaos. Binary or idealized characters are not childish, only shitty writing that presents them as childish is childish. If you're looking for realism in these types of characters and stories then you're completely missing the point. Children know that crabs in real life don't talk like they do in Little Mermaid, yet grown ass adult men complain about realism in their ENTERTAINMENT not making any sense visitors can't see pics , please register or login

Uh, yes.... the Joker has no moral dilemma because he's from a childish comic book series that has pure good and evil.

And no, you're completely missing the point. OLOLOL. See how easy that was? Or maybe you'd wish to elaborate on what the "point" is supposed to be -- though I'd guess not.

Entertainment doesn't mean it can't be realistic. That whole argument is so adolescent I can't even be bothered with it. There's a reason entertainment doesn't consist of pink squares fighting off yellow triangles.

Because those are boring, childish and one dimensional.

Only if they're done in a tasteless, crappy and vanilla kind of way.

Anti-hero characters have been done to death. How often have you seen a good AAA game where you're a pure good guy in recent times? Even pure evil guy (which is even less and almost non-existant).

Seriously how else can you portray a character that is pure good? Of course it will be boring, childish and one dimensional.

Entertainment doesn't mean it can't be realistic.

Now that you guys brought up the Joker, It made me think about how hard the new movies try to be more dark, and "realistic."

They ended up what? Boring and seriously overrated because of a death of an actor.

Take the dark knight for an example. Remove the "hero" aspect of it for a bit inside your head, hell maybe watch it like that. What do you get? A boring action flick that was done a hundred times over.

This is what happens when a director thinks that comic book material needs to be super serious. Tim Burton did it better because it didnt try too hard to be more than what it should be. People loved the dark knight though.

I think the Dark Knight was the worst film of the three. Actually liked Batman Begins the most.

How now, I kind of expected that of you.

I'm not really fan of the remake series at all, but have to agree Begins is the least 'meh' out of the three.

The new batmobile, the annoying sound Bale uses all the time, it's just.. ew.

But still it's not as bad as the Schumacher ones.. Other than Forever, that is watchable.
But it's a nice example what happens when they go full retard with the "goofiness" factor. I know batman was a TV show with "POW" signs and so, but for a full length movie..

Using the Joker and Batman isn't the best choice. There are several "universe" where the characters partly differ in very important ways from each other. Reducing Joker like that is not possible in any of them, tbh.
Ignore the nerd D: Carry on.

This is what I really liked about it though, the backstory part. He's not just some spoiled rich bastard with some problems in his head at this point going Vigilante.

Of course they are not, I don't get it either.

This. Man of Steel has the same problem. Nolan's movies are largely shite anyway.

That's the worst part about that movie. Action scenes in it were sweet tho. But story about rich kid who lost his parents, went to shaolin monastery or whatever to become a better person is bollocks. Rich kids are by definition in 100% cases spoiled bastards with no soul who compensate by acting "spiritual". Anyone who tries to sell me a story where rich kid cares about world he's living in and hasn't yet performed suicide is lying son of a bitch.

What you described actually make more sense. If there were super heroes in our reality, they would definitely be people with issues who are going vigilante for that very reason. We already have bunch of villains like that, fresh example Elliot Rodgers.

Edit: Superman is example where pure good character makes perfect sense and is in many ways superior to superficial Batman. Because Superman is from another planet, is perfectly possible that he is genuinely good and caring person. Not being human unlocks that possibility.
