Something vaguely similar happened. But that was like, before I started playing this mod. An age of myths and legends only the trees and rocks on field by the river can remember.

I have a feeling this thread was made with me in mind(I'm the only proactive NA "dev" in strategus), so here's some additional information for you.

For NA, administrators have access to server logs, player lookups(not to be confused with an account lookup, which only Canary has), character rename stuff, and ban history. Item Balancers have the same access as normal admins, except they have access to the item balance forum as well as the in game damage reporter. I have SVN access, which lets me access all the files for the module system(not to be confused with anything relating to the website or the database, that is Harald or chadz alone). No one has access to things that they'd even be able to use to gain any real advantages.

As for me personally, there is literally nothing I could do to give myself some sort of edge, (assuming I was even pathetic enough to try something) that wouldn't be blatantly obvious. Anything I do through SVN leaves logs that are easily sifted through. Still, wouldn't you think that if I was going to abuse my power, I'd address the fact that my account only has a total of 200K crpg gold for my 7 characters? Yet I don't even have any special privileges that I could use to change this if I wanted to. Aside from cmp, chadz and harald, no one else in this whole community even has access to things that would allow themselves to gain any sort of edge.


Edit: Seriously though, what a bullshit, selfish suggestion. Maybe when you can say something like this as an admin/dev yourself, you might manage to come across as something other than a spoiled brat.  :|

I don't think any of the newer admins (in NA at least) even have player lookup, since Meow hasn't been around to supply it.

So are you denying using "Free Name Changes!" as an incentive for mercs to sign up for your side in a recent strat battle against me? There are some screenshots in another thread.

I would think that is exactly the kind of behavior the OP is referring to.

Things are making much more sense now. Not only was it a joke, I obtained fewer mercs in that strat battle than any of the other battles we've had. I figure, if you're going to jokingly put shit like "sign up for us because tydeus destroyed this mod", I'm at least entitled to such a trifle joke as that.

If you honestly think I accepted some name changes that shouldn't have been accepted, due to that battle, feel free to have an admin check the logs. Find the battle, link the battle to the admin, he can search server logs for the correct player names, then search the player names in the namechange log.

On a side note, you have had more people on your roster in every-single-battle, so you don't even have room to be complaining about anything to begin with.

For starters, I haven't put anything in the briefing messages like that. I can't control what other members of the faction are putting in there (I don't think so anyway? First strat I've participated in). Sorry if that offended you anyway; I actually like most of the changes you've made to this mod.

I wasn't complaining either; just pointing out an example of what I think the OP was talking about. Whether it was a joke or not, you offered a service that a standard player can't provide, which would certainly impact the number of mercs that apply for your side. Even if 5 people took it seriously, it's 5 mercs you may not have had otherwise.
