Nostalgia/Perspective thread: has yours changed?

The way we perceive the game often times change over time as we mess with other builds or gain more information. Any funny old posts you regret making / disagree with now? I hate looking at my old posts even now, but it's good to make fun of yourself every so often.

When I used to lobby for throwing when I didn't understand the resentment against it.

I can't 1shot people with heavy throwing axe to the face with 10 power throw. I just accept that it'll take 5-6 wardarts to get someone's hp to half. It is pretty cool to pester people with them. I never expect throwing weapons to kill ever.

Going up against a thrower is by far the easiest thing in this game. You only need to strafe side to side for a few seconds if you really feel like dodging. You can still run at them anyways since they'll probably miss, and they can't stall very long due to their crappy ammo numbers.

Throwing imo needs a huge buff because otherwise they're a waste of space.

This is my current point of view after having a thrower as my first generation, then switching to a more viable pure build over the next few generations.

I think PT*10-11 is already high enough. The limit shouldn't really be a crippling effect, but should just discourage blatant overuse.

If you're trying to get 10 PT, it leaves little wpf to hybridize without making many sacrifices.

Increasing difficulty, and rebuffing the damage/ammo would be nice.

I play as an Xbower because I rage quit too much in melee, even when I do well. Plus I like 1 hitting archers with arbalest.

Now im a Melee my old friend that hates any xbowers with a passion, im still bad at melee but i have learned to enjoy it

Actually, when I look at my old posts I mostly agree with the points given there. Maybe my old posts are not old enough though.
Still, some funny moments:
How about dual-wielding 1h weapons? It could work just like 1h but each hit would be doubled (with some nerfs, of course). Would need lots of new animations for that though.
Its not the first time I see this strange thing...
For example, look at this auction - http://c-rpg.net/index.php?page=marketplaceauction&id=1441
The funny thing is that you can never become the highest bidder, because when you make a new bid it instantly becomes overbidded by 1 gold more bid.
What is that?
Royanss raped me as 1h cav when I was hoplite.

My ears have come to appreciate the sound of QQV.

I think people lose perspective on this whole looming thing..Before you got like +14 body armour just because you played the game more. Now its +10 or so. Its still a huge bonus that imo shouldn't even be there. Its a game of skill not about absorbing more hits because you have better gear. You even get +3 damage weapons and +1 speed, and the bonuses from the other armour parts. Don't forget how it is for new players like me who not only have to learn how to play the game and level a character but also play against people with better equipment than them. If you have triple loomed anything then just wear it and forget about other people's stuff, and with no downsides to balance it like there should be (+weight or upkeep etc), or a limit of one loomed item wearable at once.

I see people like to be rewarded for playing, but +14 body armour was silly. +10 still is..the gloves shouldn't even add full body armour. The armour ranges between 9.5 weight and 12 could use a bit of love, but its still kinda negligible

My second post on the forum, and its still true I think except light/medium armours are pretty good (especially when loomed). Nerf +3 looms, especially gloves

When I first started playing Strat, Kesh told me you had to shit post when bugs were found or they'd never get fixed. Now I know better and I don't report them at all.

I haven't changed my build, outfit or attitude for over two years.

Earliest record of my full build I could find

Reading back, everything I type is as self righteous as ever, but yet the same great people that I knew back then, are still here today. Madness or Stockholm Syndrome.

Siege is full of admins.

While at it, add "suffocation" to archer hidden in glitched hay stacks.

A polearm spammer might be more effective, due to the longer duration of the Stun effect after hit, comparing to 2 handers. Thats why you might see a lot of players ingame using Hafted Blade, or Long Hafted Blade, Glaive, or fast Staves, in order to "Stunlock" an opponent, which disregard being extremely lame, it's really effective.

Cheers.

Yep, and it also separated the lame archers and str stack abusers from the true archers.

Even if nerfed to the bone, we stand strong!

They know what I mean, I've been explicit more than enough times already, costing me ninja post deletes and some really sad feedbacks.

It's never enough to say this, "Thank the gods Tenne is admin now". It's the only time when I feel I can play almost bullshit free in a full server since I know for sure that even if he's fighting and see's a "chat to admin" text he stops the fight and solves the problem straight away.

[23:01:51] <DaveUKR> i've just decided
[23:01:54] <DaveUKR> that i'm too good for crpg
[23:02:20] <DaveUKR> and gave a chance to playerbase to improve
[23:02:33] <DaveUKR> so when i come back - they player at the same level with me
[23:02:37] <DaveUKR> true stor
[23:02:38] <DaveUKR> y
[23:02:44] <Shik> lol
[23:02:56] <karasu> The scary part is that you actually believe that.
[23:03:01] <karasu> dun dun dun
[23:03:05] <DaveUKR> the scary part is this is true

Looks like all my early posts are sincere careposts where I try to be constructive, helpful, and humorous if possible.

How boring.  :?

edit:

I stopped playing around summer of 2011, and picked CRPG back up a little while ago. If anything, there are a few more players on servers now than then. Sometimes you gotta wait 5 minutes for a slot to open up to get onto EU1 or NA1 during peak hours.

The seige servers usually have 80+ people when I'm on too.

irl something shorted on the shuttle and laika overheated and died within a few hours of liftoff and for a brief while one could look up to the stars and see a light shooting across the sky that was actually a warm dog corpse slingshoting about the earth at thousands of miles per hour which was arguably humanity's greatest achievement so far
