There is already a realism dedicated mod for fans of the Viking invasions called VĂkingr. It features factions from the typical Anglo-Saxons and Vikings to the Gaels and the Normans.
The appeal of cRPG is that it is not realistic, and while I love historicity and realism, I don't think this mod needs to be split up over it. That's not to say this game should not take features from history or realism (spears rearing horses, knockdown, balanced vs. unbalanced weapons), but they should not define the game.
