I personally find it very saddening that by far the most popular sport worldwide is football, even though almost any other team sport is much more interesting tactically and much better constructed with clear rules. Especially rugby, american football or handball, among the popular ones.

I just want london to get an NFL team so we can have the New England Patriots vs London Red Coats.

Also, do people across the pond actually care for nfl football, as in something you would want to follow?

American football is not likely to become a major sport in the UK any time soon. However it does have quite a big following.

There are lots of teams and fans of the sport, the issue is our education system is primarily based around Rugby, football (soccer), cricket, hockey, netball, tennis, badminton, swimming etc.

Sports such as American football, ice hockey, basket ball, volley ball, baseball, etc etc. Generally only exists as local clubs/teams. This means you need to be interested in them before hand and then join a club.

With more TV coverage/console games etc more people are hearing about these sports and getting actively interested in them. Hopefully this will mean they will get a better, bigger player base in the UK.

Personally my interest in American sports has come from making American friends who have got me interested in playing the console games, then watching, then playing. Without meeting those Americans I don't know if I would have developed an interest in them.

It's really really strange. Plus I thought that was a sarcastic comment suggesting American football is gay.

Haha no the Haka is just sheer awesome. Every time I see it I get the chills.

I have no real opinions about American football as I know nothing about the game. Other than when I like pissing of Americans and suggesting its a pansy sport compared to rugby  :P

I never liked the Haka to be honest: weird gestures, even weirder facial expressions, tongues and  annoying loud noises.
I don't find it amusing or intimidating at all, it's intimidating playing against the All Blacks of course, but not their dance IMO.
Even Fiji, Samoa and Tonga Rugby national teams have similar dances that (i think) they perform before a match, i guess their dances aren't very popular probably because they are not as good as New Zeland  in Rugby .

I dislike American football's length of time the game's take.  There's no more than 1.5 hours of actual play, and another 1.5 hours of commercials and stop time (for commercials).

I dislike European football because of the retarded time keeping (stop the fucking clock when play stops, end the game when the clock runs out of time).  I'll try to keep it short, but I find the action to be extremely lacking in EU football on top of the main reason I dislike it (the whole terrible time keeping).  Not to mention the flops.  The field should be shrunk down IMO.

That being said, Anders I know 'muricans who bought tickets to watch NFL games in London before, so it's not necessarily all Europeans attending (but I'm sure there's a decent enough interest to make it viable).

From a football player's perspective (not me) it's pretty brutal for them to play overseas due to the travel time.  They also really hate playing on Thursdays because they have a lot less time to prepare for the game and get over any issues from the previous game.

Football overall IS boring but when it's EC or WC, it's a big deal in every country. Even I tend to watch at those times. Nationalism lives on in sports, nowadays.

I like hockey, used to play it for 6 years and Sweden's got a good team that's improving fast.
