It's 1 billion a week, and obviously you don't lose money by not paying salaries, you lose the money because those 800,000 employees are no longer working in things that make more money as a whole than their salaries are worth.

800k people out of work sucks, so go get another job! Which is sad. Most of these people will just wait, cause they KNOW they'll get their jobs back at some point. In fact, it's a joke, really. If you get a government job, you're set and don't need to look for another one(that's a common joke amongst most people in the US). And you get benefits that are amazing...
