Anyone played the first game, GunZ: The Duel?

It was a pretty decent, skill based and very fast paced multiplayer game. If you wanted to be really good at it you nearly broke your fingers (K-Style anyone? ).

Damn, that bring me way back. I used to play with my 2 brothers. I guess that is one of the games why I was so interested in M&B. (Remember triple butterfly?)
However looking so far, I think they fucked up by changing too much. Special abilities (do i see a flaming hammer?), different classes, more RPG like.

Yeah it is different. From what I heard the skill cap is a bit lower now, don't think you can do double or triple butterflies anymore. There might be other parts that are harder to master though, will just have to test and see.

I never played the first one but i used to watch a bunch of videos of it and it looked like a really nice skill based game. I like old games which have sort of buggy, but hard to pull off moves like the butterflies, hopefully they wont completely remove things like this. I think i'll give the beta a shot.

Yeah, most of the difficult things in the first gunz were bugs actually, K-style for example. Here's a tutorial video of it, just shows how much key pressing had to be done in such a short time, was extremely difficult to master.

whaa? it looks cool for what i have seen now, except for that dash sound and over-abundance of guns.

It's ridiculous. Games are still hosted on player created servers, which means in 80% of the cases you'll have horrible lag making it completely unplayable. All items that you buy are timed, so they only last 1-7 days. It's much more slower paced and it isn't that much fun, just a classic multiplayer TPS now, nothing special.

I was thinking to download a private server few days ago. Everything was free on it  Sad to hear Gunz 2 is not that good.
